I agree with dbcgrl. Because prolly 15% of DC's audience has actually gone through something close to what he has. "It's better it's me than them" shows how we get our entertainment from his suffering. Kinda make you feel bad? Good. That's what it's supposed to do. He's trying to say that he must keep reliving his pain "Cleaning this old wound with salt to make it feel new." To try and please...guess who? Yup that's right, us, the fans. Yeah, and belt and shoelaces....suicide....bad....me like Chris...or well..used to at least. |

I hate this song, I've been with dashboard since 2001, I hated it when he left further, but i forgot about it when I heard Swiss Army Romance, Places made me think that this was actually a guy who had something to say. So Impossible was cool until all the slutty girls in my school were singing Hands Down in the hallways. Summer's kiss was mediocre. Chris' voice is different, his new lyrics suck and I wish he would drop the "drunk" thing. Whatever...Didn't he say he was Christian once? Oh ok, so Christians go to bars and get drunk now? Cool, news to me... I don't know what happened to Chris, but I don't expect the new album to produce anything meaningful. Dashboard shows are just concerts now, they're not the intimate experience they used to be. I haven't gone to another one since November. Hell, maybe this is what Chris wants, to make crappy music so no one listens to him anymore. Then he'll be underground again and not on mtv. Haha. Anyway, I'm going to pop in the new Further cd... I suggest you give it a listen... Peace. |

Grrrr... When I first heard this song about a year and a half ago I thought it was awesome because Chris was Finally taking a stance on his faith...but then I read an interview and he just stated it was about how his fiancee left him. *sigh* another girl song... I am so glad Jason is the singer now. His lyrics reach down and grab at my heartstrings more than Chris's ever did...well...maybe with the exception of Monachetti. That song's pretty hoppin' lol:). |

Geez oh man!!! FSF clearly stated that THEY are christians, but its' not a christian band. Got it? good. Now as far as the meaning of the song. Get whatever you want out of it... You don't have to jump on someone just because they think it's about God. Have you ever considered for yourself to think outside the box? Maybe Chris Carrabba was tired of writing "Crap, my girlfriend hates me" songs and was searching for something deeper than that... Don't limit these awesome lyrics to one possibility you closeminded imbeciles. |
