My try at the lyrics: ------------------------------------------------------------- Ladies and gentlemen of the underclass: The President of the United States of America...is DEAD! I don't believe in the politics Of chosen fools and hypocrites Who walk a line that's stretched so fine Is death or glory had in mind? And here we go, I guess the resolution No one knows who leads this revolution, now As tension grows, the way to a conclusion It's too late, there's no time (It's too late, there's no time) Offer none, never 1, 2, 3, 4 March of the dogs to a beat of disillusion Sworn under God bringing panic and confusion The white flag is down, send in the clowns The carnival of sins is now about to begin It may be of a pessimist but I say we need an exorcist The root of all evil standing tall Under God, and above us all Here we ago, again in desperation All we know is confusion and frustration, now As tension grows, no vision of salvation It's too late, there's no time (It's too late, there's no time) Offer none, never 1, 2, 3, 4 March of the dogs to a beat of disillusion Sworn under God bringing panic and confusion The white flag is down, send in the clowns The carnival of sins is now about to begin. Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! A 1, 2, 3, 4! Another president dead because They blew off his head No more sense to be read Guess to heaven he fled Was it something he said because of who's in his bed By who will we be lead From whose hand will we be fed all the lies by the lying liars Who said, we'll be fine, it's okay hey look mom, no head! Bow wow, wow wow (*) Bow wow, wow wow (*) Bow wow, wow wow (*) Bow wow, bow wow (*) Bow (*) It's okay, Alright. [* Indistunguishable background lyrics] |

Interesting thing, even the lyrics on their website don't quite match up to the actual song. To me this song seems to be about someone who has discovered the Bible (with our God who we found laying under the back seat), and becomes some sort of religious zealot. However, there is something wrong with the boy's faith (cause the God i believe in never worked on a campaign trail). So he asks the boy (torch being a metaphor for the following of Christianity): Who do you carry that torch for, my young man? Do you believe in anything? Or do you carry it around just to burn things down? I failed to relate this to "daughters" and "burning hot with love", however. |

Well assuming RileyLewis is right, I won't say anything about the meaning. I like this part of the lyrics the most: "Oh will you break my fall, Oh when I climb too high? I always lose my nerve, It happens every time. Oh will you bring me home, When I'm barely alive?" |

One of my favorite songs in the album, along with "Sun and the Moon" :]. My interpretation: Let's say the other person is a girl. After he meets her, his life changes a lot and he feels that they are very close. He has a lot of good memories. Then after a while, he realizes that she doesn't feel exactly the same way he does, and that he isn't as close to her as he thought he was. |

I like this song :]. Even though I'm not Christian. It's about finding love, and caring for someone else. Though this is supposed to be Christian rock, so the real meaning might be different, but I don't see a way to squeeze in "God" to replace "You" so I'm guessing it's actually directed at another person. |
