I haven't read anything anyone's written. So if someone's already said something like this I'm sorry. I think it's about sex or reproduction or both. "A 3rd had just been made and we were swimming in the water, didn't know then was it a son was it a daughter" this part also sounds like making a baby and then there is the line that goes "That's how the world began. And thats how the world will end" The world sort of did begin with sex because people started having sex and populating the world. Also the line about "The universe is shaped exactly like the earth, if you go straight long enough you'll end up where you were." ties in with the line saying "That's how the world began and that's how the world will end. which says that you'll end up how you started out just like the world/universe. |

I don't see why no one will accept skd2k1 's idea about the song being about them selling out. It makes sense vitamin421 : yeah skd2k1 what the fuck are you talking about? This isn't about mm selling out because why would a band ever write a song about themselves selling out? whether the song is about the environment, commercialism, or selling out it has a sarcastic tone to it. Obviously a band is not going to go around bashing themselves and calling them selves sellouts but you know if you poke fun at yourself first it has no affect when other people do it. Anyways whatever this songs about it makes me want to get in a car, floor it, and crash into a building or drive off a cliff. |

I don't think I worded that the way I wanted to... Anyway to me this song is about finding someone you can connect with sexually and emotionally after having a past of sleeping around and having lots of sex and eventually getting bored of the numerous partners or emotionless sex because its no longer satisfying. Then feeling like this is the person youve been looking for and kind of regretting that you have had so many partners before them. Thats why they're all "whores" and the "devil between us" is that feeling of regret that the sex can't really bring you closer together because you've already shared that with others |
