Fixed it. I think I hear "BE my embrace..." as well, but when I was typing up the lyrics I didn't think it made much sense. Changed it anyway. Also, it turns out it is "run", not "flood"! |

I recall Chris Martin saying it was about a friend of the band who was having "lady trouble".
I'm going to go on a whim and say that the first part of the song ('Come up to meet you...') is about the man trying to approach a woman. From the chorus it sounds like the man and woman got into a relationship but things got too difficult between them (he may have made some kind of mistake but I'm not clear on that), and he's lost her. He knows relationships are hard but he wants her back anyway and he wishes for things to be the way they were before they split up. This man is a "scientist"-- he's logical, he believes in science and reason. However, what he was feeling in his heart went against all of that. This is all about him wanting her back, wishing he could tell her all of these things before he looses her |
