woohoo! I just figured out what this song means (to me atleast). He's dreaming, and he is with the girl of his dreams, no pun intended. "And dreamed of all the different ways I had To make her glow" In his dreams, anything is possible; he can do tricks that make her "laugh" or "scream". He's the man in other words. "Dancing in the deepest oceans Twisting in the water You're just like a dream..." I love the last line, "you're just like a dream". It describes that moment perfectly when you are having the best dream ever, everything is perfect. Then you get the suspicious feeling it's "just like a dream". "Alone above a raging sea That stole the only girl I loved And drowned her deep inside of me" "Inside of me" shows that she was in his head. The raging sea could perhaps be his mind, where she would eventually be lost (not many people remember their dreams.) "Why are you so far away?" This shows that even though they are close together, she is far away from him. This might be eluding to the fact that the woman he dreamed of is real, and alive somewhere, and the "raging sea" could be dividing them. Or something. I love this song =D Does anybody think the "just like heaven" movie is based upon this song? It storyline reminds me of my meaning of this song. |

Perhaps his house is metaphorical for his heart: "She stole the keys to my house and then she locked herself out." Maybe he fell in love with her, and she did something wrong, to make him fall out of love with her. Maybe she cheated on him, and that might be what the beginning of the song is about. "how's that for gratitude, I apologize." Maybe she is apologising. |

There appears to be alot of jackasses on here... If you feel strongly about the song in any way, your argument will be far more persuasive if you do not swear after every sentence. I think that this song is very good. I know that Queen was a very talented band (even though I do not think that highly of them). However, it was obvious that this song was going to be covered by somebody. I am happy that it has been covered by MCR and The Used, for a good cause. It could have been much worse, given time, 50 Cent would have probably rapped it :| I think that people should not try and force their views upon the other users. It is quite annoying when a good discussion gets going then an idiot comes and says something like: "the used and mcr totally fuked up a classic they should take their wannabe vampire asses and kill themselves for raping a beautiful song about one of the best frontmen ever and his struggle with aids along with David Fucking bowie" Very intelligent thedon45 :) |

misskurt......My hero is about regular people, as detailed in the video, just regular heroes, not kurt cobain. Like alot of people say, not all foo songs have to be dedicated the Kurt, the swinging from the chanderliers did remind me of the come as you are vid. YAY, thought I would take the opportunity to comment on this song forst....HAH. What an awesome song, the new album is much more heavier than any of the past stuff in my opinion. I think that the song is obviously talking about somebody dying (being hit by a truck car etc). Then the rest of the song is talking about the family remembering him and everything going dead: "And dust replaced their souls, hearts turned into stone" Perhaps this blokes death signaled the end of everything i.e"the last generation" Cool song. excellent song.....the title is cool "like light to the flies" a twist, cos its usually the flies that are attracted tot the light, so maybe instead of humans being attracted to pain, pain finds us, or summit like tht... "Devoutly wished for blinded eyes" thts like what clairvoyant said, this line reminds me off people who look for pain, and dont enjoy life, they want the pain to give them something to moan about.......im goin on now. amazing song, trivium rock. |
