The White Stripes – Offend In Every Way Lyrics 20 years ago
This is one of my all-time favorate songs, not just because it rocks balls, but also because the lyrics really strike a chord with me.

To me, the song is about having a dissenting opinion from the norm and how no matter how you try to express your opinion, people get a prejudicial mindset toward you. It reminds me of a play I wrote that had anti-evolutionary theme to it. When it was produced, everyone laughed (as it was a comedy) right up to the end where one character asks the other to examine why they believe what they believe; if they knew it to be true because they'd examined it, or if they were just accepting what someone else said was the truth. I was almost lynched (litterally) for asking a simple question. Several of my "friends" cornered me after the show and were frothing at the mouth angry with me. Several people never would speak to me again after that.

"You tell me to relax, and listen to these facts, that everyone's my friend... and will be to the end. But I know this much is true: no matter what I do... no matter what I say... offend in every way."

BTW, the second and third verses of this song are switched around in the above transcription.

The White Stripes – Forever For Her (Is Over For Me) Lyrics 20 years ago
Everytime I spin this CD, this song grows on me more and more. It's so dynamic and dramatic. Jack really knows how to build a song and make it an emotional experience.

The White Stripes – Black Math Lyrics 20 years ago
While I dig (and appreciate) punkrockdj's Sleepytime Gorilla Museum reference, I think this song is much more face-value than most of the speculation here... especially the freemason stuff. I will give Plato03 this: BLACK MATH is obviously a play on words of BLACK MASS, which is a religious rite of the worshipers of darkness. Black Math seems to have undertones of the religious rights of the worshipers of Science... which has also become a religion, perhaps as dark.

Anyway, this song kicks major butt! Now get off you asses and go buy "Get Behind Me Satan!" It rocks!
