| My Chemical Romance – The Ghost of You Lyrics | 20 years ago |

song is sung pretty well. lyrics are too transparent. its annoying when you enjoy a song due to such superficial factors eventhough you know that the actually meaning behind the song is so apparent. |

| Tool – Third Eye Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
My view on this song is that in the beginning, drugs are needed for him to reach his third eye. This is shown through when he is dreaming of himself with the third eye and then he talks of how the eye is falling away from him. Then when he "wipes the webs and the dew", he has taken some sort of hallucinogen and his eye is reappearing. Then the lyrical absence represents meditation. Once he has finally achieved the full reopening of his third eye, he begins to relay to the audience his experiences through the spoken word. When he sings "so good to see you..." he is speaking from the eyes of his third eye. Then, when his displays internal duality, he is speaking from the role of the self and the third eye. When he talks of "dogma" and "smoke and reason" i do not think that he is simply refering to physical reality but also the belief that drugs are the only way one can have the ability to see the true self and glimpse the third eye. By him saying that he is prying open his third eye, he is obviously saying that it takes more than a simple pill to truly see the third eye. just my comment. Cant wait for the new CD next year. |
