this song just... i dno how.... but it makes me think that everything is going to be ok.i think its about two friends, and the singer is trying to help the other friend through the shit thats going on in their life and trying to tell them that how theyre acting right now isnt who they are, and they dont need the shit that theyre putting themselves through. but theyre also sympathetic, knowing that the changes and the shit thats happening is hard and theyre begging their friend not to end it all, leaving them high and dry. i guess thats why it makes me feel ok, when my best friend sung this song to me i knew i was going to be alright and woke up to the shit that i was putting myself and him through. brilliant stuff from radiohead, my all-time favourite, its just on another level!! |

i used to be a serial ben-basher, but this song changed my entire perception of his music. it draws away from his other music and ends up being a beautifully crafted piece of music. the inclusion of the piano and cello really accentuate the mood of the song, which is generally greiving. i agree that this song is about loosing a friend, from the fact that it is outlined in the lines "old friends become old strangers". loosing friends that mean so much to you can be the hardest thing in the world. ben's voice is suited to this song, its raw edge communicating the pain of loss. great song!!! |

i love this song, not my favourite but up there! even tho its about "cold" water, i can't help but be left with a warm and peaceful feeling, probably due to the beautiful chanting harmony with the girl's voice and the deep voice of God (? which it appears we're calling it these days) i think he's lost something and is so consumed by his grief that he can only turn to god's guidance for sanction and relief |
