| Bob Dylan – With God on Our Side Lyrics

I think what Bob's tryin' to put across is that God has nothing to do with war...except that the people BELIEVE that God is on their side. He's pointing out how ironic it is...God has nothing to do with war because war has to do with Greed, Hatred, and materialism...exactly the opposite of what God stands for...in pretty much every world Religion. When Bob says that "if God is on our side, he'll stop the next war", he means that if we were really to except God or its morals or theology...there would be no war...it doesnt matter what side he's on, either way there would be no reason for war. I absolutly love this song because it goes down through the ages and the different historical wars...brilliant Bob! Brilliant! |

I love this song. Its so sad man...the song is about a guy who has lost his love and now he realizes that he had everything and he just threw it all away. I remember when I was first dating my girlfried, I was so unbelievably nervouse about our first date that I was pretty much thinkin about standing her up but...i listened to this song and thought, that could be me...I dont know but maybe that girl is everything and Im just gonna throw the chance away....well I found inspiration through this song and now we've been together for a year and a half and she is definatly my everything...thanks Bob! |

I think personally that when people have trouble interpreting a song...they assume its about drugs right away. I think this is about a guy who is a bit of a rough ass you finds a girl is very much a goody goody and is very innocent and she has had numerous boyfriends over the years but they ment nothing to her...I believe the girl is a very innocent girl and she shows the guy a new way of life and he falls in love with her innocence...and as years go on she may become "colder" but now he is there for her and now he'll become what she bacame to him. I actually find myself in a very similar relationship and thats thats kinda persuaded my interpretation of the song, but the beauty of good music is its openess to inturpretation...like someone said before me. Sorry about my terrible spelling...hope this helps someone out. byebye. |

This song gives me a playful kinda ironic feeling...lIke nothing really matters kinda deal..."twenty years of schoolin' and they put you on the day shift"...is it really worth twenty years of schoolin'?...i dont know that what I get outta this song....songs are for everyone to interpret for themselves...dylan, I believe is the master of this. |

"manipulator of crowds" i believe is a reffering to Hitler. In the first stanza it says that "you were born with a snake in both your fists/while a hurrican was blowing" i guess reffering to the intelligence of evil rulers and such,"but with truth so far off what good will it do?" i think this is saying that they use their gifts of power for evil..anyways thats kind of a theme i have running through my head when i listen to it. But then again whoes to say its all about one thing?, i think it's for everyone to interprate for themselves, its just put toghether beautifully.dylan is a genius and an amazing poet, i love this song. (please excuse my terrible spelling). |

I think this song is about a man who has lost his family at the hands of a murderer. He feels that his life has lost all meaning, except for the feeling of revenge. He believes that God has taken his life away and has left him no choice but to avenge their death, “...avenge my family’s pride.” He has been given an even greater punishment by God, then the death of his family; he feels alone and vengeful. He tells God that he cannot turn the other cheek and that he will never be alright, even when he kills the murderer. |

This song is about a boat thats in the montreal harbour....thats what ive heard anyway and if you think about it it makes a lot of sense....."there are heroes in the seaweed" is a beautiful line. A lot of people died in the montreal harbour...and i really think that this is what the song is initially inspiered by.....it may have then taken on different meanings. but a woman from montreal told me thats what it is about. that also were Cohen is from i believe.... |

I personally think that Michael Graves is a kick ass singer, and is just as good as Danzig. I think that Micheals vocals suit the Misfits now, I don't think that Danzig would suit it very good. Anyway... This is an awesome song, one of the new Misfits best. |
