To me this song is about a relationship that didn't work out because of previous experiences that one of them had had. Perhaps being burnt in his last relationship really messed the guy up and his head was all over the place at the time. This made it difficult for him to love again. He's looking back on it now and he realises that he could have loved the girl but the time was wrong. I think "in my place" just means the place that he was at in his head when he was in the relationship, but he's out of that now and in a place where he can love her again. Now he wants her back and she's moved on |

This song reminds me of my ex-girlfriend. We broke up last week and i was pretty cut at first but then I realised that the experience just made me stronger and wiser in the end. This song is about turning adversity into triumph. Right now I'm glad that we broke up because it helped me see her for the person that she really was. I realised that I was being used and i'm glad that i'm not being used anymore. I never liked this song before but right now it makes perfect sense. Everything that doesn't kill you really does make you stronger. |
