| Ray LaMontagne – Shelter Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Regardless of the meaning Ray intended it for, this will be my wedding song. Promising to shelter one another for the rest of each other's lives during our first close embrace together as man and wife through this song...I can't think of a more perfect memory. | |
| Ray LaMontagne – Empty Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Ray sings with more emotion in his voice than anyone I've ever heard, literally. It dawned on me how much I love his music when one day I realized that every time, every single time, I think about putting an album on, whether it be home or in the car or even at work, Ray's music is the first thing I want to listen to. And this is 3 years after first hearing Trouble. A lyrical and emotional genius. | |
| Counting Crows – Goodnight Elisabeth Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
Ok, what the song is actually about from Adam's own mouth by way of annabegins.com: Adam was in love with a girl named Betsy (aka Elisabeth) back when they first made it big with AAEA. He thought he has his whole life figured out with a successful band and a girl he loved. Well going out and touring put a strain on the relationship and it ended. This song is about how he's going to deal with the pain of the break up and the reason why it's called Goodnight Elisabeth and not Good-bye Elisabeth is because he wanted it to be a "lullabye." My overly-romantic interpretation of this song: I look at this song as a lullabye but in a "I'm staying up watching you sleep" kind've way. About how you can love someone so much that you're willing to put yourself through the worst pain for their happiness, hence "if you wrap yourself in daffodils, I will wrap myself in pain" (my all-time favorite line). |
