Bright Eyes – On My Way to Work Lyrics 20 years ago
I always wondered if there would be some kind of "life" after death, but never really thought of what I would actually feel when I died. It's scary. I'm not afraid to die, I'm afraid to think there could be something worse than this.
But now in digital ash he says that death=freedom, I remember the same thing in a couple of songs like from a balance beam, one foot in front of the other, train under water, there must be more but that's all i can remember. Oh, on Method acting he says "I made peace with the fallen leaves, I see their same fate on my own body" so I think he has changed his view on death.
Still this is a special song for me, this was the first BE song I liked.

"anything conor does with The Album Leaf is amazing"
Wow, I knew this and Hungry for a holiday had something special, they were somewhat alike[musically]

I think the ribbon cut for the opening is like discovering love or something, the "mystery" I'm pretty sure it's love too, Oh, yeah, now I remember, Let's not Shit Ourselves: "How grateful I was then to be part of the mystery. To love and to be loved".

"Now the whole world is waking up" like first day of my life "You said everything changed
You felt as if you just woke up"

I think the whole song means... this person who's sad because he/she's been in a bad relationship and thinks "maybe someday I will find my real love so if you find it open your eyes, don't let it go, enjoy it, don't go looking for something perfect ['and destroy the desire for that wich is impossible'] because it is impossible and accept what you get, what is real.

Bright Eyes – Hungry for a Holiday Lyrics 20 years ago
This song sounds so sad just listening to the first notes.

"You could capture this with camera clips, but it don't exist
Just light on negatives
Another number on the birthday cake
You should act your age"
I hate my birthday because I don't think my mind fits my age, I hate being older on the outside and having people say to me "You should act your age" The number on the cake means nothing, it doesn't show how much you've really grown.
I love this song, one of my... like 70 favorites, ha. But sure is on the top ten.

"He'd rather be trying hard at something that has potential that sit and wait for things to be perfect"
I Agree.

"i wonder if this relationship is the same as the one in 'take it easy, love nothing.' and like this is kind of conor romanticizing it all and the other song is kind of like, "WHAM this is how it really is boy!"

Haha, that would be sad. I don't think it's the same girl.

Does anybody know what "spreading blankets on the beach" might mean? Could it be like spreading blankets on the beach is something unusual, like being in love for the first time would feel as new and strange as watching someone spreading a blanket on the beach?

Yeah, I noticed the lottery-love thing too.

I like to think of "I'd rather be working for a paycheck than waiting to win the lottery" as the lottery being the "perfect love" people dream of[that "happily ever after" thing in stories], it's like the lottery, everyone wishes to win but nobody will ever get it[I mean, I've never met anyone who did, so I think of it as something unreal].

It's funny that I always think "glad I didn't die before I met you" when I really like somebody, a friend, my family. I did that even before I knew this song. I'm glad I didn't die before listening to his music, heh.

And if he said he has never been in love and wrote this beautiful song, then this is the best proof that imagination is one of the biggest gifts of the human being
