I saw Dashboard in concert on Halloween night and they played this song. Chris said, "It's Halloween so I might as well tell you: this song is about an affair I had with a girl who's in The Grudge 2; you all should go see it!" i think this song is pretty easy to understand. he wants to take her away from her abusive dad and he's going to treat her really well. basically he just wants to save her from all the pain in her life and run away. |

i really like how different this song is from what he's done before. we're all used to chris writing about girls breaking his heart && being alone, but this is a brand new side of him. is agree with TheSongofainu, but I also think it could be about a divorce. "sign my name on the dotted line next to yours" singing the divorce papers.. "you found the ways to move faster and stay healthy no contra" the other person is moving on quickly and is okay with everything that's happened. i've always thought thi song was about a lover or maybe a love letter.. "Every single word is plagiarized" maybe it was what she said, or what she wrote? "Compliments and chemisty. Cavalier and so charming" all the things she was pretending to be or do "every sentiment has been contrived" this makes me think it was a love letter..maybe an 'I love you' at the end? whatever. |
