this song actually really reminds me of that song "difference in the shades", by bright eyes, because of how conor oberst talks about taking it easy and it's so gorgeous how he uses imagery and about sleeping in the garden, it's so precious. but then again, i don't think anyone compares to bright eyes, so ... but still, we need more songs like that. |

oh god, it's not about coke. he doesn't do coke, he's an alcoholic. but i love this song so much, it's about comparing the night to the morning of course. you have to listen to it so many times, and every time i do, i catch more and more meanings.and i think he's finally realizing what it's like to be an alcoholic, and live the life he does. but it's coming to terms with it all. it's like at night everything's great, but realization comes with the morning. this is a beautiful song. and i doubt it's about winona ryder, but who knows? and to vincent h., conors' always written gorgeous melodies, nothing less, but always more. |

this is my favorite song by jonathan rice, i love how it sounds so beautiful and yet the whole time he's being sarcastic about the war and how it has to do with religion and Bush pretending he's just so religious and holy. it sorta reminds me of bright eyes' when the president talks to God |

first ofof, conor oberst has the best emotionally charged lyrics, and i first heard this song like a year ago, and i fell in love with it. it's the only song that makes me stop whatever i'm doing. especially when the drums come in and he starts singing louder. it's just too great. everything that he talks about in this song is beautiful. i really like how he uses the yellow bird reference, which he also uses in that song, " we are nowhere and it's now", so i think that it really means a lot to him. it might mean something different for everyone though. like a person could be his yellow bird, and now i can't help but think of birds and all the references in his songs differently now. i love how aware it's made me. god i'm emo. |
