this is one of those songs that embodies everything about life. so many experiences and good and bad memories. if i die before sam and sarah do, i would have them perform it at my funeral. the most beautiful send-off anyone could ever ask for. |

this is definitely my favorite iron and wine song, and may be my favorite song in general. to me, its gorgeous in the deepest, most private way. this song expresses the most beautiful and simple parts of love and being together: "love is a scene i render when you catch me wide awake" or "...burns the scented oil that i'll drip into your bath" i think the first verse talks about how when they were young, they had grand plans for being in love, but once they got a family, not everything turned out the way they planned, but they still love it: "we'll gladly run... we meant to make is gone" this song gives me the happiest and warmest feeling i can possibly feel. it fills my head with beautiful thoughts about living with the love of my life. |

| the broken bottles represent the way he goes through life thinking of himself first, and others second. he would only be willing to give if he first had enough for himself. i think this song can either be interpretted either as actually talking about his relationship with jesus and christianity or just his life in general. either way its a beautiful song. | |

| i put this up here not only because its my all-time favorite song but i was really curious about how people interpretted it. i must say i'm very satisfied. Mjc209 you put a really good perspective on all of the imagery. this song is so gorgeous. the message is so strong but its wrapped up in so much imagery. sam beam is amazing. | |

thank you so much for putting this song on here! i've been trying to find out who it's by for months cuz when i downloaded it, it was under bright eyes. anyhoo- i think this song is talking about the aftermath of a breakup. she hasnt given up yet but she knows she has to so that they can both move on. the line about the time zone could either be metaphorical of literal. i take it literally because i just broke up with my boyfriend because he moved. this song is definitely very fitting. 'i think i missed a step somewhere' - i see this as she feels the closure wasnt really closure, like it didnt end right and thats why she's still in between moving on and being attached. yet again very fitting. this is a great song i love it! |

this song is so powerful- definintely my favorite PS song. ben is saying he would do absolutely anything to be anything or have any part in this girl's life. its amazing that love can be so powerful. my favorite part is "i'll be the platform shoes and undo what heredity's done to you: you won't have to strain to look into my eyes" for some reason, that line always hits me. beautiful. oh, and i love this song, but, does anyone else think that the beginning sounds like mario music?? |

| i agree with little pink lines. when the chorus comes in it really hits you. for those of you who have seen garden state, to me, this was one of the best parts. the chorus blasts in and shes dancing in front of the fireplace... absolutely beautiful. | |

| this song is so powerful. i cried the first time i heard it. the video is amazing too. nick was going through hell before he died and this song expresses that pain in such a beautiful way, as if you can feel his pain. i definately recommend the book. it is His Bright Light. very well written, but just be warned, it will make you very depressed.
