when i did a report on brave new world i read somewhere that "humans are becoming more like robots and robots are becoming more like humans". i think that pretty much sums it up. |

| i also agree with badrx7, that it is a sequel to jet black new year. in that song he dies his hair black, because he wants to change and forget about everything that happened with the boy falling from the apartment. now in this song he "cuts the jet black" from his hair and goes back to his real, old self. | |
| Thursday – Signals Over The Air Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I really like DouglyUckling's interpretation. This is probably one of my favorite Thursday songs, and while I started listening to them because of the amazing sound, now I listen to it for the meaning. I try to really listen to what Geoff is saying. Everything the man says in genious, and we should all pay more attention to the actualy meaningful stuff than to what the media throws at us. | |

Thats my favorite thing about Thursday. They write about things that actually matter. Not like "I had this girlfriend, and she broke up with me, so fuck her". No one else does what they do so beautifully and creatively. I did a project on this song in sociology. I almost started crying when I was standing up there presenting it and just listening to it. I love that Thursday stands up for things like that and that they write about issues that matter. ones that affect everyone. It's so great when after you fall in love with the music to be able to go back, and learn the intricate story behind it like this, and only then can you truly understand all the symbols they use in their lyrics. Genious. |

| Thursday – Between Rupture and Rapture Lyrics | 20 years ago |

I definately agree with what everyone else has said, that the song was a way for him to deal with his friend dying and maybe just try to connect with him. He keeps making references like "you can't save me...I'm turning off". He makes it sound like he is the one with the disease but maybe he is just telling how his friends illness affected him, to the point it felt like he was dying. Like what I Heart Thursday says, I think when Geoff referes to "the capitol" means the hospital. "Someone call the head nurse. She's coming to the capitol To wrap us up and throw us in the dirt With a dream that's turning off." Obviously that means death, like even the nurse trying to help can't do anything. "We are coming to the capitol. The distance between us will rupture. In our hearts the disease will touch us" That could mean like when Geoff visits his friend in the hospital, it finally brings them together. |
