A guy im close to expresses himself with lyrics... he sent me this song and asked me to figure out what it meant... it took me weeks! (seriously), but i figured out ALL of it!..... the ONE WORD refered to, isn't actually only one word - it means he is waiting for you to tell him how YOU feel about him... waiting for YOU to break the silence... The MADNESS is his mind buzzing with thoughts of "what if" and "does she love me" - that kind of thing... ITS NOT THE WAY THAT I WANT IT... (etc), means he doen't want to just be friends, he wants more, but he has to put up with it for now and it IS better than nothing... the ONE GREATEST LIE is the masking of feelings for eachother - masking the love and pretending everything is ok the way it is... And finally - the bit about the future basically means - yes he hates the way things are at the moment and he wants more, and so he hopes things will be different in the future...
