To me the song is about teenage discipline, everyone who follows their parents entirely and wont do anything mimick a dead body. When I heard this song I thought how much I can relate to it. I thought "I can't lose it... lie. " was "I can't live that lie" and was referring to how discipline is holding in your emotions and stopping you from doing what you want to, which is in a way a lie. Pretty much every lyric hear fits. |

Duality is about how everything has a double meaning, and they hurt people. You have to go behind what you see to get to it (hence pushing fingers into your eyes, as thats how you get behind the things you see) and you cannot kill what you did not create because the only things you dont create is yourself |

I think this is about a person who has no control in their life(abused perhaps), except for the fact that they control wether they live or die through suicide. "Grab a brush and put a little makeup, You wanted to, Hide the scars to fade away the shakeup, You wanted to, " The abuser covers up his damage, yet all along he was what he wanted to do (in the victims mind, showing that the abuser is in control) "Why'd you leave the keys upon the table, You wanted to, " Showing the victim here has no respect, has to do the most menial tasks and the abuser left them there on purpose to excercise his control "I don't think you trust, In, my, self righteous suicide, " shows that the abuser mocks their last control, perhaps they threatened suicide and the abuser didnt take it seriously. "I, cry, when angels deserve to die " The person sees themself as an angel, no sins and it always being the abusers fault, but then caves in to the abuse and blames themself. Believing the punishment is death. "Father/ Into your hands/I/commend my spirit," The victim commits suicide "Why have you forsaken me, " When being judged by god, god rejects the victim because suicide is the sin she couldnt repent. She thinks it is what she was supposed to do and can't understand gods wishs. "Trust in my self righteous suicide," Telling god to trust her decision and finally the same words but new context "I, cry, when angels deserve to die. " Self pity infront of god, showing him how she feels and how messed up situation has become. This would have to be the most powerful metal song I have heardm and it is my favourite by far. |
