I both hate and love this song. I hate it because it reminds me of when me and my boyfriend broke up. It was really big then and the lyrics said everything I was feeling. I love it because it was playing when we kissed to get back together and seemed so appropriate. It always reminds me of him. To me, it's about a great relationship ending and the feeling of being completely lost without them. It's something I can most definitely relate to. |

I reckon it's like...the feelings you have when you suddenly realise a relationship is coming to an end because of the other person, and you can't control the situation because it's not you that's the problem. I think it's about coming to terms with it, that she doesn't necessarily want to die but you do feel like that sometimes. And she wants to get over it and move on. Reminds me of when I broke up with my ex, whether or not it's what she means I think it's easy to relate to. Amazing song, gives me chills. Love the live version. |

I watched and read a couple of interviews with Kings of Leon and basically the fact they really push is that the best songs come from the heart and real-life experiences which is how they write their songs. If this is true, they've had pretty eventful lives!! This is pretty good logic, it makes sense rather than writing soppy pop songs about what you would like to have or you imagine could happen...it seems a bit drippy to me. |

This a good song...but why did it take so many tries for someone to come up with the right lyrics? They're on the album sleeve!! It's gotta be something about drugs and sex: "Walking like you're stuck in velvet snow" could be, like, the rush of getting high and then the after-effects when you get all sluggish and crap... I think Dusty is dead, his girlfriend...and i reckon he killed her because he loves her too much and there are other guys here and there and he's scared she'll leave him...so he kills her so she wont'e leave him...and now he's scared of relationships and wants a few stands...and doesnt know how to get them...and he cant be assed really...its probably all wrong but i think thats what its about. As much as I love ALL of kings of leon's songs, i think this is my favourite, so it pained me to see that the words are wrong! It's "only bringing what to carry on so that you know i won't be long" because that makes sense because it means he's only taking enough stuff to get him through a few days on tour or whatever to reassure his girlfriend that he'll only be gone a short time... And the chorus bit goes "this rememo is set for home" which means its going home...sorry to pick faults but i just had to say it :D and its definitely drippin beards i love this song to bits...i think its about caleb being this big star that has to travel and stuff and that puts a huge strain on his relationship with his girlfriend because he travels loads and gets mauled by all his fans...but he's just reassuring her, telling her he's thinking about her and that he wouldnt cheat and he'll be back soon and stuff... Kings of leon sing about stuff thats happened to them, like real life rather than make believe stuff like pop bands sing about...so its quite likely that it means this...well, thats my conception of it anyhoo I'm quite proud of that :D Love all you kings of leon fans to bits, you're doing a great job supproting the dudes, and most of all i love caleb and jared and matthew (and nathan if he loses the beard)... |
