| The Mars Volta – Conjugal Burns Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
"Before this visit turns conjugal" -Man and woman. Marriage. This is relevant to my explanation. "I've got to get born." "But I'm drawing closer to the present. And I'll find a space with no memories. I've got a second chance to inhabit the living." Inhabit the living. Born. Drawing closer to the present. A space with no memories. To me, this means one thing: Goliath is saying it shall be reborn of a union that TMV started- A second chance to inhabit the living, the spirits returning, coming closer in time... and the "space with no memories" seems to me to be a child, a baby, impressionable and inhabitable... Very fearsome. |

I'd agree- most of the songs seem to be as if Goliath were inhabiting the minds of the band, turning this into a vehicle for possession instead of one for dissipation. It's very, very disturbing, but compelling all the same. |

Such grim thoughts. A lively outlook on death. So very entertaining. |

| Coheed and Cambria – The Suffering Lyrics | 18 years ago |

A glee-filled scathing message to a former lover. Especially relevant for me now. ^_^ I don't really like that I can be this hurtful, but it's a fun song and I get caught in the spirit. :D |

Umm... yeah, whatever, davisonfire1. But simply put: It's about just suddenly feeling really, really good. (: |

| Maroon 5 – Nothing Lasts Forever Lyrics | 18 years ago |

And to add to the meaning of that quote- "A bed that's warm with memories can heal us temporarily, But misbehaving only makes the ditch between us so damn deep"- They've been lovers, and reminiscing and making love can make them feel good for a little bit; in the long run, though, it just pushes them farther apart. |
|
| Maroon 5 – Back At Your Door Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Basically- despite everything that's happened, all the bad stuff- he stilll wants to be with her, to stay in love and all, as hurtful as it becomes sometimes. He still wonders how she's just plain able to do it, but he loves her and needs her. | |
| Daniel Bedingfield – If You're Not The One Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Revised opinion of mine... I'll build on the long-distance relationship thing. 'Why does this distance maim my life?' It's like... you've found the one for you. You can't stop thinking about them, no matter what. 'Then why does your name resound in my head?' There's just... a lot, where you've made just such a strong connection with them... Person-to-person, heart-to-heart, soul-to-soul... And it feels like it's breaking up... Just... beautiful. I cry almost every time I hear this song. It's just so moving and it never loses its meaning... I just connect to it 'cause I'm in a very difficult situation: I'm in love with someone who's older than me. She currently lives about 5 hours away from me and there's almost no way we can see each other until 5 months from now. And once she's off to college, things will be much more difficult... I just identify with this song so well. |
|
| Jamiroquai – Love Foolosophy Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| It's a sort of confession. That feelings of love might not be so sure. That the one in question is just doing it all for pleasure. Though the singer is stating that it's definitely love the singer's after. | |

Wow... I've only listened to this song fully for the first time today. And I fully understand it. It's a message that's been there... kind of describing my situation with a certain girl whom I love... |

| The Killers – Mr. Brightside Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| A lovely song detailing paranoia. 'Tis something I'm experiencing in recurring episodes every night, though it manages to fade (if only slightly) during the days. | |
| Fall Out Boy – Sending Postcards from a Plane Crash (Wish You Were Here) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Partially, I had a bit of introspection tonight. Somehow it feels like the singer's doing his best to force a girl out of his mind; I'm thinking it's a girl he was going after for a good while. Then a friend of the singer swoops in and takes the girl for himself. Tch. |

| The All-American Rejects – Dance Inside Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Well, to slightly reiterate, it's definitely about a degree of closeness. xD In any case... I was listening to it a bit, and the line sounds more like "Hints to fuel desire". Perhaps the hints are, as a previous correction stated, a reference to what "hands do now what eyes no longer defend". |

| Blue October – 18th Floor Balcony Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Oh my gosh... I swear, this song is so beautiful. I'm a guy and I cried... I have to say, I love the tone, the emotion put into this song... it's so perfect. And for my simple analysis: It's basically about being so ultimately close to the one you love and the many parts of it all. Connecting- "So we talked, about moms and dads About family pasts" Devotion- "I raised my hands as if to show you that I was yours That I was so yours for the taking I'm so yours for the taking" It's truly amazing. |

| Relient K – My Girl's Ex-Boyfriend Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Somehow, this song seems a bit boastful; considering that Relient K is a band generally in the Christian Rock genre (or at least last time I checked), I feel that it's denouncing one of the seven deadly sins; namely, pride. I dunno, that's just how it feels for me. | |

| Jason Mraz – Did You Get My Message? Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Well, to simplify the meaning, it's all just a matter of mistranslated communication and the fact that some statements take on a different meaning due to situations and certain circumstances. Also, I don't really see how it's a Beatles tribute... maybe I'm too much of a young'un to see the resemblance. Oh, well... I'll keep on listening. :p |

| The All-American Rejects – Top Of The World Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I actually had a thought after watching the band play in the video. It seemed to be a simple clip-show of them on tour, but at the end, I felt a bit of personal insight... here's how I'm interpreting it. You may agree or disagree as you wish. Basically, I would think that the song is about false idols, in a way. It felt like a reminder to the band themselves not to get too pompous or self-absorbed, but there seemed to be a deeper meaning than that. "It's a king that we put up there And he's a short way to fall from grace" The king, of course, being a metaphor for who's popular at the time, be it an actor, a singer, or another cultural icon firmly rooted in the minds of the people of the day. A short way to fall from grace: they could easily do something reckless to ruin their career, doing something careless due to the amount of 'power' they have, so to speak. "Don't be so greedy A dollar's a penny to you" Essentially, a line describing the I-want-more attitude that stars have. Sure, most of us share that feeling, but the people with money and status will use that to get more expensive, and more mundane, objects. "When hearts are/stop beating Say what you want 'em to do" To put it simply, when you've got someone who's insanely popular, they're bound to have a fanbase. Therefore, the fans will, to a degree, follow instructions or requests given by the idol. "Wasting away... I see you/Finding a day, don't wanna be you When the top of the world falls on you" Very clear here. The star, now deluded and stuff, can be declining by this point (as in popularity, status, or possibly physical appearance). With the second part of the first line listed, it would truly be unfortunate when the "top of the world falls" on the star, thus signaling the end of their career, or worse, life. "In the eyes of those who watch ya Well, they can't wait 'til you hit your face" Those who dislike the star can become obsessive, watching intently until that one moment where a fiasco comes along and wrecks the star's career. ...and that's all I can analyze. |

| Gnarls Barkley – Who Cares? Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Hmm... from my point of view, the song seems to be a simple eclectic mix of various topics, each segment truncated by a groovy "And I can go on and on and on... but who cares?" As for individual sections... I'll take a tiny stab, though it'll be pretty broad. The first verse deals with... the issue of eccentricity. The second's just a message of missing someone who might not be the best choice as evidenced by the first line, i.e. the 'quality' of being shallow. The third is, in terms I just made up, a narration of cut-and-paste individuality and it seems like no one is exempt from the mixing of others'... essence, if you will. The fourth segment... man, I can't make heads or tails of that. Anybody else wanna take a crack at it? Or is it simple enough to understand, while I'm trying to expose meanings that aren't there? xP. |

It seems like a pretty sweet song reassuring his girlfriend that, of course, she's the only one for him. Seems from what I've heard (Beautiful Soul and She's No You), Mr. McCartney has a penchant for expressing heartfelt emotions. |

| Yellowcard – Empty Apartment Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
"Maybe someday I will see you again And you'll look me in my eyes and call me your friend..." My situation: I know this girl. I like her-a whole lot, of course. And what do you expect, she wants me to back off; story of my life. Those two lines sum up how I feel. 'Maybe someday I will see you again': An encounter of ours in the future. 'And you'll look me in my eyes and call me your friend': The hope I have that she'll at least say we're friends. Although it's highly unlikely. |

| Fall Out Boy – I Slept with Someone in Fall Out Boy and All I Got Was This Stupid Song Written About Me Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
There's one line in this song that really describes one girl I used to like... and sort of still do. XP. "Douse yourself in cheap perfume it's so fitting- so fitting of the way you are you can't cover it up- can't cover it up" I take another meaning of 'cheap', as in 'shoddy'; 'perfume' is a sarcastic term for smoke. So it's like the smell of cigarettes and drugs, which is hard to cover up, hence the lyric "can't cover it up"; I've heard from my friends the girl's a drug user. But then again, I don't know what to believe. |

| American Hi-Fi – The Geeks Get The Girls Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
This, I deem an excellent song. It's practically the main desire of one of the lower tiers of our society from an image of general respect (not necessarily my line of thinking, though; how society views it). Just an essential view that the jocks are the only attractive people in society; it's like, if you don't play sports, you're not cool and therefore you will never be in a relationship. The song represents, to me, an essential view and hope of myself: my being one of the 'geeks' who wishes to just be in a relationship. This song rules. I, personally, wish it had gotten more airplay, but maybe it's better that way. In a sensel |

| Yellowcard – Only One Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
"I feel so broken up... and I give up... I just want to tell you so you know..." "Something's breaking up... I feel like giving up... I won't walk out until you know..." My interpretation (with these lyrics): This guy likes a girl; she doesn't like him back and he wants to truly let her know how he feels; he's been rejected for so long that he feels like just giving up on everything... |

| Daniel Bedingfield – If You're Not The One Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
In my eyes, this song is just very meaningful to me... I'd say he's singing about this girl he likes, but she doesn't like her back... -If you're not for me, then why does this distance maim my life? (My interpretation: A spiritual/emotional gap between them) If you're not for me, then why do I dream of you as my wife? (Needs no explanation, really) It's just his wishing to be with her badly, and her not liking him back, in my eyes. A situation I'm honestly in... |
