| Ben Howard – Conrad Lyrics | 11 years ago |

The title and line "In the tale of Conrad" (which sounds to me like "In that tale of Conrad's" but not sure) definitely seem to be allusions to the short story "The Tale" by Joseph Conrad. It's a good read: http://www.online-literature.com/conrad/3127/ I think the lines: "We will never be the change To the weather and the sea..." resonate with the ending of the story. |

| Right Away, Great Captain! – Memories from the End, Pt. 2 Lyrics | 13 years ago |

"and now i am shown the treacherous pains to become something whole redemption that's freed the burden from me redemption so free discovering me" Could Andy's project have any better ending verses than these? wow..... |

| Mat Kearney – Rochester Lyrics | 14 years ago |

This song reminded me so much of Bruce Springsteen so much when I heard it. I almost thought it was a cover. Especially Springsteen from The River or Nebraska, songs like Independence Day or State Trooper. so good though |

| Jonny Craig – I've Been Hearing That You're Freaky Lyrics | 15 years ago |

I think it also has a really strong physical and pretty sexual attraction, and it's not a bad thing, but I think it can be puzzling sometimes, the power the opposite sex can have over us, just by being the opposite sex: "I can't win, it's your body taking over me. How did she get in my head?" |

| Right Away, Great Captain! – Once Like You Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| The last line makes me think he's considering cause the ship to wreck somehow, because of his hurt, pain, anguish, etc. Maybe the 30 innocent men are the crew? | |
| Manchester Orchestra – Now That You're Home Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| it's about his friend, an ex-member of the band "The Chariot" who came to him. Andy said it's not a knock on the band at all, it's just how he handled comforting his friend who came to him after leaving the band. | |
| Manchester Orchestra – Colly Strings Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
From an AbsolutePunk interview on 5.27.08: Andy: "Colly Strings" is a song I wrote on the first record I wrote for my fiancee. Each phrase of four lines switches back and fourth from my perspective and hers. The song tells the story of the hard things we had to get through to finally find each other. "Besides you can't believe without bleeding" references the idea that before you can experience real joyfulness, you have to experience pain. It's the only way you can appreciate the good. And to clear confusion on the lyric people can't understand... it is "And I fell flat in Seth Ott's bedroom". http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?t=321973 |

| Oh, Sleeper – SON OF THE MORNING Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
with a concept album, the songs are not meant to be sing-a-longs. concept album's tells a story from subjective points of view, i.e. Satan and God. That why first-person language is used. These aren't just song's from the band's point of view, they are heavily guided by the Bible story, and (I believe) the Holy Spirit. That's not to say I think these songs are 'inspired' by the HS as the Scriptures are, but you get my point. I'm just trying to say this album is trying to TELL the LISTENERS something, so the point is to listen, not exactly to sing. |
