| Bastille – Daniel in the Den Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| This songs makes me think of Game of Thrones from Bran Stark's point of view. | |
| Mumford & Sons – Not with Haste Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Has anyone noticed that this is essentially the sister song to Learn Me right by Birdie ft. Mumford and Sons, which is on the Brave Soundtrack? Both are amazing songs <3 It sounds like redemption to me. |

| White Lies – Unfinished Business Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Has anyone seen the programme being human? (UK people only, methink.) for those who have, it reminds me of the whole Annie and Owen thing, as, though it took a while for Annie to find out Owen killed her, it still took her ages before she got over him and she still loved him. she had 'unfinished business'. i can just relate the two so well. It's a brilliant song, definitely one of my favourites - so dark and brilliant! |

| White Lies – To Lose My Life Lyrics | 17 years ago |
it's a song about that terrifying decision between who dies first - you or your life partner. the simple solution would be dying together, but it obviously doesn't work that way - so it's to lose your life or to lose your love. there's also underlying currents of 'does the soul exist?' in there too, particularly: 'and there's a part of me that still believes my soul will soar above the trees but a desperate fear flows through my blood a dead love's buried beneath the mud' which i think means that he hopes souls exist so they can meet together afterwards, but he's terrified it won't be like that. i'm really loving white lies, they're a nice break from all the new indie bands out there that just sound the same and sing about girls, girls, girls in an awfully unsubtle way. there's a touch of joy division about them, and from that, the editors. i really like them :) |
| I Am Ghost – Lovers' Requiem Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| wow, i'm surprised there's only been three comments for the title song! it's a great song, too... this is where the 'story' gets exciting - the war between heaven and hell starts. the whole thing reminds me a little of romeo and juliet. | |
| Keane – Try Again Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i don't think it was about tom's drug problem. i was a keane fan from early 2004, when H&F was just taking off, and only just after that i heard a live, sort of unofficial version of this song, and i'm not sure his problems had started then. it's a gorgeous song, though. absolutely beautiful. makes me miss the days when i was a massive fan, but once UTIS came out i just went off them. bands have to change, i suppose, but H&F will always remain my favourite album by them. this one, i think is about problems between 2 people. i get an image of 2 ex-lovers, the narrator being the submissive one, the one who gets into trouble, gets taken care of by the other, and basically he knows he needs to change that but he doesn't know cos he's not strong enough. right, massive ramble over ^_^ x |
| The Feeling – Rose Lyrics | 17 years ago |
it's weird (on the accent note) because dan G-S, i knew is from london, but very now and again, you hear this bristoley/somerset sort of accent - but only when he sings cos when he talks in interviews he sounds like he's from london! :S has anyone else picked this up? in regards to the song, by the way, i do think that the more obvious wine reference is a metaphor to sexuality. |
| The Feeling – Won't Go Away Lyrics | 17 years ago |
awww, this is so unabashedly cheesy! i adore adore adore it! especially the awesome sax solo in the middle! it's pretty obvious what it's about, the narrator of the song is reassuring someone that they are significant and their love is needed, however unneeded they feel sometimes. |
| The Feeling – Strange Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i've never been able to relate to a song as much as i can to this. for me it's about having a low self esteem because of so many people bullying you and pushing you around - and someone just picking you up and telling you that everyone's different and weird, everyone has their eccentricities and there's no need to feel so ashamed about your own. when i'm feeling down, this song makes me realise that i'm not alone. |
| Adele – Hometown Glory Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i've totally and completely fallen in love with this song. every time i hear it, i just well up and it send shivers down my spine. i can probably relate with the appreciation of where she's from, because although it's not the nicest of places, i wouldn't change where i've lived for most of my life because of all the memories i've had there and all my closest friends that i don't feel i could find anywhere else. like amy winehouse but SO much better because winehouse is skinny and adele has the body to carry the amazing power behind her voice. |
| Snow Patrol – The Finish Line Lyrics | 17 years ago |
this might sound a bit silly, but i've been wondering if it's about someone really important being killed - maybe JFK... "A magic trick makes the world disappear" no one really knows the full extent of what happened when JFK was assassinated, just like no one knows apart from the magician what happens in a magic trick. "A distant motorcade and suddenly there's joy The snow and tickertape blurs all my senses numb" obviously JFK was killed in a paradey sort of thing, with a motorcade and everything, though i really don't think it was snowing... "Cold water, cleaning my wounds A sad parade, with a single balloon" well he was shot, so that would all scan, and the parade again, though it might link into a funeral generally i think it's from his own point of view, and the more i listen to it the more i can relate it to that. *prepares to get stuff thrown at me* |
| The Smashing Pumpkins – Tales of a Scorched Earth Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| this is a great song... even just reading the lyrics i could feel the total anger and hopelessness radiating off it, and listening to the song doubles that feeling, it's amazing. i also like how it contrasts a lot with the next song, thru the eyes of ruby, which talks about innocence and actually believing in something, be it only a girl. | |
| Slipknot – Vermilion, Pt. 2 Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| i feel exactly like this about my best guy friend... what an amazing song, and usually i don't go for slipknot at all but this one just got me the first time i heard it | |
| My Chemical Romance – Desert Song Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| was this written for three cheers? if so, it could be somthing to do with the concept of the album, which is about two lovers who die in a gunfight in the middle of a DESERT, and the guy wants the girl back so he makes a deal with the devil by promising him the souls of 1000 evil men. but yeah. it's an ace song. | |
| Muse – Endlessly Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| i can relate to this song at the moment. i'm very very close to my best friend, who's a guy, but i'm hopelessly in love with him, and have been for about two years now, but i don't know if he'll ever feel the same. The way i see this song is that the narrator is loving the person he's singing about forever, though it's hopelessly, he's still waiting for that person to admit their feelings for him, andhe's saying he'll wait forever and never give them up, and that's sort of how i feel at the minute. | |
| Plain White T's – Hey There Delilah Lyrics | 18 years ago |
this is such a sweet, simple and sincere song, and although i can't really relate to it like a lot of other people can, i can understand the sheer pure emotion communicated through the simple lyrics, and i can almost feel the love he's trying ot get across to her, whether it's returned, unrequited, or even a very very close friendship. i DO have to jump on the bandwagon, however, and say that i wish so much that i was delilah and that a lad would sing to me with that much innocent pure feeling. |
| Nickelback – Far Away Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| i love this song so much. i feel particularly at the moment like i can relate to it, since a close friend of mine who i am also in love with is going to university after the summer holidays, and he doesn't love me back, but i don't think i'm going to see him for a long long time. such a brilliant song. | |
| The Fray – Little House Lyrics | 18 years ago |
this song reminds me a lot of muse. probably cos of the heavy guitar and epic piano... by the way, the piano solo in the middle... does anyone know if that is actually part of a classical piece? cos i do think i recognise it... Brilliant amazing song and if it is about self harm, unfortunately i can relate :( |
| The Smashing Pumpkins – Tonight, Tonight Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| this song puts such amazing images in my head, like the line 'and the embers never fade in your city by the lake' just make me think of a beautiful fantasy glittering city, but the most vivid is each of the run ups towards the 'tonight, tonight, tonight' chorus it gets faster and it makes me think of someone running and running, until it gets to the chorus and they get to the end, maybe a cliff or something, and when the singer lets go and starts singing the tonights, it makes me think that this person who's been running, suddenly just lets go, maybe runs off the ledge or cliff and starts flying, just flies above everything else. no other song has ever put images in my mind as vividly as this. | |
| Ben E. King – Stand By Me Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| brilliant song, and amazing film, it's just so amazing. the meaning's pretty clear though, it's about standing together in tough times, keeping strong and keeping relationships going. | |
| Snow Patrol – Signal Fire Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i'm absolutely in love with this song at the moment, it's so lovely and pretty... but i agree with redpeanut... hello? we're all snow patrol fans, we all share a common ground so why not agree to differ, as it were. some like it, some don't. each to their own opinion. i myself think it's an absolutely amazing song, and obviously a lot of you will disagree, just like if i came out and said that i think run is one of the worst songs that they ever did. (which it really isn't, that was just an example.) to me it sounds like the narrator's in love with someone and he's telling her, he's telling her how dependant he is on her, how she's his safety net and how he needs her to 'guide him to safety'. |
| Jamie T – Sheila Lyrics | 18 years ago |
you know, thedon1982, although i respect that you're entitled to yuor opinion etc, i'm wondering why you're posting on a place that's obviously going to be full of jamie t fans. it makes me wonder - do you like to be verbally attacked viciously? because, to be honest, it's pretty much what you're in for if you're going to go round posting things like than in places like this. just a kind warning :) |
| The Goo Goo Dolls – Iris Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| this is such a beautiful song, for me it just emulates froustration out of every lyric, especially the line 'i just want you to know who i am' because i fell in love a few months ago, and he messed me around a lot then went out with one of my best friends (who i made sure i'm still friends with), and broke my heart, also hence the line 'when everything's made to be broken' - but atm this song is like my life theme. it just makes me want to go up to the lad and shout 'i just want you to know who i am!!!' at him. the vocals are so passionate, so emotional, and it's just so touching to hear, whether you can relate to it or not... i'm just in love with this song atm. | |
| Jamie T – Sheila Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i just found the lyris as they are in the album booklet and a few of them are completely different to the ones on here, it might make a bit more sense: Sheila goes out with her mate stella, it gets poured all over her fella, cos she's says, man he ain't no better Than the next man kicking up fuss drunk, She stumbles down by a river Screams calling London, None of us heard her coming, I guess the carpet weren't rolled out (Oh when my love, my darling, You've left me here alone, I'll walk the streets of London Which once seemed all our own. The vast suburban churches Together we have found: The ones which smelt of gaslight The ones in incense drown'd) Her lingo went from the cockney to the gringo Any time she sing a song, The other girls sing along And tell all the fellas that the lady is single A fickle way to tickle On my young mans ting She's up for doing what she like Any day more like the night She drowned drunk the sorrows That she bought borrowed She didn't like fights, But at the same time undersood that Fellas will be fellas till the end of time Jack had a gang That he called "The Many Grams", He was known as smack Jack the Cracker Man In life he was dealt some shit hands But the boys got the back now And Jay went the same was As Mickey and Dan Dependent mans upon the heroin And man Lisa had a baby with Sam, And now Jack on his own man, Well done Jack, glug down that cider, Your right shes a slut And you never fucking liked her Not like what he stopped so shocked Cos it turns out the last dance Killed the pied piper Tough little big man friends With your daughters Only cos they drive him To pick up all his quarters Crawler, larger lout brawlers Fall to the floor think they're free But they aint near the border Too young gunned down are by your hell fire corner Always did a favour, But never took a order, Behave young scally wag, A fine young galahad Glad ragged up but only ever getting fag hags, Hung on his shoulder, cheap price shop tag Slag better understand He came for the glamour But this town's original Superficial the issue For one dear Jack, 35 doppelgangers Sheila goes out with her mate stella, it gets poured all over her fella, cos she's says, man he ain't no better Than the next man kicking up fuss drunk, She stumbles down by a river Screams calling London, None of us heard her coming, I guess the carpet weren't rolled out So this a short story bout the girl Georgina Never seen a worse, clean young mess Under stress at best, but she pleased to see ya, With love, god bless, we lay her body to rest, Now it all dear started with daddys alcoholic Light weights chinking down, numbing his brain, And the doctor said He couldn't get the heart dear started Now beat up, drugged up She feeling the strain She says in a rut What the fuck Im spose to do Suck it up start stop keep running through, True but you try aint easy to do, She been buckle belt beaten From the back like a brat, Dunno where she goin But she know where she at, So Georgy its time to chain react, But the truth is you know She probably fought back, Tears stream down her face, She screamed away, When I fall, no one catch me Alone lonely, I'll overdose slowly Get scared, I'll scream and shout But you know it won't matter She'll be passing out I say giggidibidup just another day Another sad story, thats tragedy, Paramedic announced death at 10.30 Rip it up kick it to sput up the views Sheila goes out with her mate stella, it gets poured all over her fella, cos she's says, man he ain't no better Than the next man kicking up fuss drunk, She stumbles down by a river Screams calling London, None of us heard her coming, I guess the carpet weren't rolled out Sheila goes out with her mate stella, it gets poured all over her fella, cos she's says, man he ain't no better Than the next man kicking up fuss drunk, She stumbles down by a river Screams calling London, None of us heard her coming, I guess the carpet weren't rolled out |
| Jamie T – Sheila Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| what an amazing song - even when i'd heard it without knowing the lyrics there was still this profound sadness to it, but can anyone actually work out the general meaning of the song as a whole though? it might give me some insight on why the song makes me feel so sad when i listen to it. | |
| Alanis Morissette – Ironic Lyrics | 18 years ago |
'it's like ten thousand spoons when all you need is a knife' i can so relate, if not in a literal sense. such a brilliant song. |
| James Morrison – Wonderful World Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| this song is amazing, and i can relate to it so well at the moment, especially those two lines, 'who am i to dream? dreams are for fools... they let you down', because atm i feel like it's true and i don't want to dream any more because i've been let down by dreaming so many times. being able to relate to this helps so much. As for the meaning, i agree with aussie princess. | |
| Muse – Glorious Lyrics | 18 years ago |
what an amazing song, i wouldn't usually describe a song as heavy as this one as 'pretty' but i can't help it, it actually IS a really pretty song. as for the interpretation, like dschaefmuse, i think it's about hope, hope and potential to get where you want. |
| Panic! at the Disco – Karma Police (Radiohead cover) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
ooh, they've done a cover of karma police? ace! anyone know where i can find it? *first comment* ^-^ |
| Starrfadu – Let It Out Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| what a sweet song - could be interpreted for best friends, lovers, anything like that - all it is is someone showing their support for someone. how lovely ^_^ | |
| Radiohead – I Can't Lyrics | 19 years ago |
it sounds like it's an answer to prove yourself - the title at least - like, it goes 'prove yourself', and then there's an answer with 'i can't' that's how i see it anyway, it seems to fit, especially when thom sings 'Please forget the words that I just blurted out It wasn't me, it was a strange and creepy doubt - he could be referring to the previous song here. |
| Razorlight – America Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i LOVE this song! it's my fav razorlight song out of all of them, because of the lovely guitar part to it I think it is making a point about america... how all his life there has always been panic and trouble in america, and he doesn't get why because there's been so much stuff about america that it doesn't mean anything to him any more or it could mean nothing, i mean the beauty of a song like this, if it is meaningless, is interpreting it how you want, and relating it to your own personal experience, isn't it? |
| The Killers – Everything Will Be Alright Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| i definitely agree with adri29's opinion on how it's a look back on a previous relationship , but he wants her back and he's telling himself that everything will be alright and he'll get her back, but although the lyrics are optimistic, the music definitely isn't and i think it's just wishful thinking on the man's part. | |
| Lostprophets – Last Train Home Lyrics | 19 years ago |
master of puppets.... in your post you told us that lostprophets 'had never heard of a guitar solo'. well try listening to make a move, it has a solo at about 2:49... k? this song is amazing, it's thefirst song i liked of lp and it 's sung with so much emotion, you get lost in the song. i think it's about someone who got dumped by his gf and doesn't fully understand what went wrong. i also agree with the 'love is pain' comment. |
| Muse – Starlight Lyrics | 19 years ago |
bury-me-in-black - yes, you're not alone - i've thought that since the first time i heard this song, and it just sort of clicked. (this is a passionate doctor who fan talking btw) i definitely think that it couples with supermassive black hole, but since the rest of the new album appears to be a political album, this one could be too - about going to war and being 'far away from the memories Of the people who care if I live or die'. this might just prove i think too much, but parts of this song sounds like bliss from origin of symmetry, and both of these (unless i'm much mistaken) are the second song on each album. i just thought that was cool lol |
| Muse – Assassin Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| oh wow, you can actually hear dom on this, it's good to hear the percussion a bit louder. as for any thoughts on what this song means, i have to agree with the above post. | |
| Keane – Hamburg Song Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| it's an organ, i think tom himself plays the organ part | |
| Keane – Atlantic Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| i think this song seems to be the same old man in Bad Dream - except before he's old and finds himself alone. | |
| Keane – A Bad Dream Lyrics | 19 years ago |
he's obviously thinking about 'the good old days' and how he misses his lifelong soulmate - partner or wife - and he's going to be with her soon i've only just listened it for the first time but i can already see what a touching song it is. |
| José González – Heartbeats Lyrics | 19 years ago |
when i first listened to this song, i thought that maybe it could be about a relationship that was very short, but very sweet, and now it's ended he's looking back and thinking 'we were in love' looking at the lyrics, i can see it could have several different meanings - one could be abnout his girlfriend cheating, and another could be about what i mentioned before - or you could combine the two anyway, i heard this song on the sony advert and fell in love with it - it's just breathtaking, literally - cos everytime i listen to it it makes me hold my breath |
| Travis – Turn Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i might not be thinking outside the box here, but i get the impression it's talking about there being so much to learn and too little time to learn it in - the particular verse that gives that impression is So where's the stars ? Up in the sky And what's the moon ? A big balloon We'll never know unless we grow There's so much world outside the door that's how i interpret it anyway |
| Travis – Flowers In The Window Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| i have to agree with violetzebra - if i interpret it by thinking that no one would ever love me, then someone comes along and sweeps me off my feet, i can totally relate, cos recently it's happened to me | |
| Pulp – Disco 2000 Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| disco 2000 is up there with the few most beautiful and saddest songs i have ever heard - it makes me cry, with the lyrics and then the meaning added on to it - it's all so sad. | |
| Oasis – Stand By Me Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| beautiful song. just plain amazing | |
| Oasis – Cast No Shadow Lyrics | 20 years ago |
it's one of the most beautiful oasis songs ever. i'd heard it before, but never paid much attention to it, but one time i was listening to it and the chorus came on and i sat straight up and fell in love with it - and i can't describe how beautiful i think it is and i can't think of a reason why i fell in love with it apart from the fact that the chorus sounds so beautiful and the lyrics are amazing. i agree with bleedthecoloursopen - it makes sense, for instance in the chorus: 'Bound with all the weight of all the words he tried to say Chained to all the places that he never wished to stay Bound with all the weight of all the words he tried to say..' cos when you're like a ghost, you can't talk to anyone or go from the place where you died - stereotypically that is. |
| Radiohead – Street Spirit (Fade Out) Lyrics | 20 years ago |
this song.... wow. it's one of the few radiohead songs i like - i can't get into a lot of their songs, but creep, no surpises and street spirit are the top tree - thom yorke is a GENIUS. every time i listen to it i feel the depsair that thom actually wrote into the song, and it has an effect on me that no other song has... unexplainable... |
| Muse – Screenager Lyrics | 20 years ago |
amazing beautiful song, i think the bits about the teenager are true, but i think it's from the P.O.V of someone who knew and even loved the tenager who's hiding and changing, and wants them to change back hence the bit: 'who you were was so beautiful remember who... who you were' beautiful song :) |
| McFly – The Ballad Of Paul K Lyrics | 20 years ago |

| New Order – Waiting for the Sirens' Call Lyrics | 20 years ago |
i love this song, it's beautiful and i have it stuck in my head right now but what does it mean??? i'm trying my hardest to work it out but the only thing i can come up with is someone saying something really bad to a good friend or lover, and now they regret it. |
