I've been a huge Green Day fan since Dookie came out. I never knew what the title to this song meant.
Recently on a flight home from Turkey we had a 1 night stay in London. We get there and check into the hotel and I go use the bathroom in the lobby. I walk up to the urinal and start pissing and I look down and realize I'm pissing on a label that says "Armatage Shanks." I almost busted out laughing right there but had to control myself so I didn't piss all over me. It was just one of those moments when it all makes sense. |

Key lime pie is a pie made out of Key Limes. They're small semi-sweet limes usually from Florida.
I once heard that AFI used to be under a record label called Key Lime Pie Records. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. But thats where I got the idea above. |

"Ask for a bite" - The band asks their record company for something.
"Fuck you, I'm mean" - The record company gives them nothing.
Thats just one possibility. It could be way off, it could be exactly what the band meant to get across. Who knows? Only the band. Songs are not so cut and dry Mr. Telephonne. Oh he's talking about pie, this song's about pie! It could be about a dog, a girl, religion, who knows? Who cares? |

In "Smile" when he says "I will write my first love song" he is talking about burning the whole world and writing a love song about it. What he means by this is that all the "love" songs that he wrote before are not truely what he loves. He loves death. He doesn't literally mean he'll write his first love song, he already has done that. You could argue that Key Lime Pie is a love song. |
