Say Anything – Shiksa (Girlfriend) (feat. Caithlin De Marrais) Lyrics 18 years ago
Also, he places a few motifs for his Jewish identity in here.

"I caught your eyes to my surprise... your white thighs.
Hebraic neuroses ceased to be. An angel’s conversing with me!"

For those of you who aren't familiar with Mr. Bemis... he's a little neurotic. And he's Jewish. So, he's noting how in this remarkable situation, his normal character traits--neurotiscism and Jewishness (more of a generalization of his identity than a statement about Judaism)--somehow "cease to be."

Toward the end, he says "our sacrament of salmon and Irish beer will still be here."

The salmon represents his half (Jewish... They like fish, right?), and the Irish beer represents hers. She must be irish! I'll bet she's cute.

This song is about infatuation. He "caught [her] eyes to [his] surprise," and is now in disbelief that such a knockout could be attracted to him. And we all know what happens now! "I'll need new contraceptives... let's spend the night entwined.... no matter what I'd bleed to be your whore."

And who doesn't get excited about new exciting sex prospects?

Especially Max Bemis... heh.

Anadivine – Adding Insult To Injury Lyrics 19 years ago
First of all, it's called "Adding Insult to Industry," not "Injury." It's a modified cliché.

Second...wow. I love this song/album/band.

Box Car Racer – My First Punk Song Lyrics 20 years ago
does anyone understand what this song is meant to do?

probably not, because most of you seem to think it's just about the greatest song ever written.

but anyway, anyone who likes blink knows that they get a lot of grief about being too poppy and not actually punk. so, i believe that tom wrote this song as a satirical shot at the "true punk" scene. most people who listen to this song will realize that, as funny, fast, and catchy as it may be, it's honestly not a very good song.

it's basically tom saying, "you want punk? i'll give you punk."
audience: "this shit sucks."
tom: "then let me write my good stuff without giving me shit about it."

Coheed and Cambria – Always and Never Lyrics 20 years ago
keeping the blade isn't the end of the light and the glass... it's referring to the second stage turbine "blade," the instrumental intro to coheed's first album. it's the same melody and everything. then it goes into the coheed and cambria theme on strings.

Coheed and Cambria – Apollo I: The Writing Writer Lyrics 20 years ago
I know what Burning Star IV is. Rather, who Burning Star IV is.

By the way, how could you possibly think it was "If my chin spills"? I don't think you can spill a chin...

Anyway. Burning Star IV is the Writing Writer (hence the name of the song). The Writing Writer is Claudio. Not the Claudio from the story, not The Crowing, the real Claudio...Claudio Sanchez.

Here are the real lyrics, as per the lyric booklet, from the album, released today:

Woah oh, oh woah, oh
If my shame spills our worth across this floor
Woah oh, oh woah, oh
Then tonight, goodnight, I'm Burning Star IV

Now, I do believe I know exactly what these lyrics mean. If you don't know already, Claudio has taken this album through a loop, taking a step back from the story and providing an alternate perspective. He sings of his view as the writer looking at the characters of his story, and of how they are not real, and how he alone determines their fate. ("So you're not as real, just what I thought up / You're just a page I'll burn from a book that has nothing to show" --Dirty Secrets of Erica Court; "In my presence / You will make sure the fiction meets its fate / That death will grace your face, my dear character" --Apollo II: The Telling Truth).
Now, about the Woah-oh lyrics of this song. This is basically stating Claudio's insecurity ("shame") in his story, and that if he decides to end everything, he can do just that, and everything will be worth nothing ("If my shame spills our worth across this floor"). He then says Goodnight (just so you know, anytime Claudio references sleep or coming home, he is referring to death) to his characters and story, stating who he is, the writer: "Then Tonight, Goodnight, I'm Burning Star IV"

Let me know what you all think.

Coheed and Cambria – The Suffering Lyrics 20 years ago
three allusions to old songs:

1.)"listen well, will you marry me?" sounds like "pull the trigger and the nightmare stops?"
2.)"hey, hey"s from Blood Red Summer
3.)"Haha" from Devil in Jersey City

Also, is it just me, or does it sound like someone other than Claudio singing the "Oh where have you been?" lines?

And one more thing...this song really seems to lack the amazing guitar work that is present in, without exlusion, all of Coheed's songs. What's the deal with that? Did Claude just pull this one out of his ass? Still, awesome song.

Coheed and Cambria – Welcome Home Lyrics 20 years ago
the second verse definitely goes like this:

"You stormed off to scar the armada, like Jesus plagued later, I'll drill through your hands."

but it's not a big deal; we'll know on september 20th.

and also, i have heard that Claudio will be stepping out of his story to tell about his own life and his involvement with his characters. it will be kinda funny, because it will demonstrate how the characters have to do what the writer says, because they are just a story.

also, Claudio is going to make a movie out of everything once the story is finished.

and one more thing. way to go everyone for actually discussing what the song means, instead of bitching about whether Coheed and Cambria is emo or progressive or space-rock opera or whatever. they are the best band that has ever existed or ever will exist.

amazing song. but i have a question about the comics. i just bought the second stage turbine blade comic (no.1) and i thought it would cover the whole album. but it only goes up to the beginning of devil in jersey city when matthew and maria call coheed shabutie and laugh. is there a comic for each song? and at the end it said "NEXT ISSUE COMING WINTER" is that winter 2004 or 2005?
by the way, claudio's grammer is atrocious in the comics. still, i'd give up every last bit of my grammer skills for even half of claudio's guitar and vocal abilities.
