I like this song. And giving feedback to other comments written here, I do feel this song inspires me to get motivated and live life to the fullest. I think its amazing what it can do to you when you are feeling down, because it really does pick you up again; If you let it. For me, I think this song is about picking yourself up, out of a hole you have gotten your self into. ‘And as I pull my head out I am without one doubt Don't wanna be down here feeding my narcissism. I must crucify the ego before it's far too late I pray the light lifts me out Before I pine away.’ This part of the song, for me, is the most inspirational section. You can really do a lot with this song, I feel this song, like a lot of tools songs, you can really twist and turn it to suit whatever mood or thought you may have, or just to interpret it another way. |

| i pretty much agree with alot of comments people have made here. i think this song is a truley beautiful song, and listening to it does give me inspiration to seek off on my own. i think this song can be interpreted ina few different ways. i like to think it does provoke a feeling of independance and motivation. | |

i am listening to this song write now. to me, the patient has to be on of the most beautiful songs Tool has produced, and i think it is because every living human can relate to it. just like most other songs. apart from the fact it makes me feel so incredibly wonderful, as they are all extremely talented musicians in their own sense, the lyrics bring me back to relaity. every living human feels and grows through some sort of pain, and this song drives me, and hopefully others, to realise, that the best way to live through it. is just to wait it out and be patient. |
