Wish someone could figure this whole song out. I also interpret it as an atheist statement, heres why I see it that way: The first part's written to the mother and is saying how the mom never told them about religion so they could live with a false happiness. Then he goes into the part about jesus never allowing him to be anything special, and how he could easily fall to his knees and beg for god to allow him to be better. But, he would rather just stay on his feet and keep walking. I also feel like the person who never gave up on him is his mother since thats who this part of the song was to. Then he says dear shithead and I get the feeling that he means people that follow religion. Then he says the sky is falling, the paint has lead, walls have asbestos.. so basically all hell is breaking lose in a comical way. Then hell tears down the gates of heaven and asks the followers if they want to love and feel it. well, u can look but u cant taste it. u can reach but u'll never have it. By this hes saying that u can believe in heaven but you'll never find it. And then he say we are untouchable, untouchable is something to be. I interpret this to mean that nobody is playing with our lives and were living them and making our own choices; but thats just as much of a reason to live then living for an afterlife. |
