The Upper Room – Black and White Lyrics 19 years ago
This song is so beautiful. Every time I hear it I think my heart is going to stop.

Does everyone agree that people should sing in their own accent more often? It's so much more heartfelt.

I'm talking to you Lostprophets....

Kate Bush – Hounds of Love Lyrics 20 years ago
I always assumed Kate Bush was a god, or at least descended from gods too.

Son Of Dork – Eddie's Song Lyrics 20 years ago
Although i agree with adelledaforever that Son Of Dork are positively awful, Megaman-exe is right - this is not the place to be slating genres of music you personally don't listen to. Bands like this are manufactured to cater for an audience tastes. They only make records which people will buy, and it's not for people like us to judge them, it's all subjective. I agree, it's creativity and passion that makes the best music, but hey, I like the Macarena!

Radiohead – Let Down Lyrics 20 years ago
This is possibly my favourite Radiohead song. I LOVE to listen to this on the bus, watching blank faces glide past and feeling sorry for myself at how cold and detatched I am from life.

On the one hand it's melancholy, musing on the irony of constantly travelleing but never arriving to a satisfactory conclusion and then the other half is uplifting.

"one day I am going to grow wings"

Radiohead – Fake Plastic Trees Lyrics 20 years ago
I know this interpretation has been touched upon a couple of times, and i'm surprised few people have considered it but the second verse is definately about breast implants.

"gravity always wins" is obviously the struggle for perfection that is ultimately fruitless as boobs will sag.

whenever i hear "cracked polystyrene man" i think of someone wearing casts. Maybe an accident. It does remind me a hell of a lot of the film 'Breast Men'

But in the end it's all a tad pedantic. The meaning of the song is pretty clear. Struggling to feel adequete in a fake world.

Interpol – PDA Lyrics 20 years ago
I think this is about a girl that Paul was drawn to because she had something that sparked an interest from him. The band often mention how they resent what has happened to the culture in New York, so maybe he is drawn to her because she is "the only person whose completely certain there's nothing here to be into".

She has other quirks, like being cute when frustrated/sedated (drunk?)
And although he deserted her he will always have a place in his heart (the whole reference to 200 couches is about hospitality).

Thats the way i've always seen it. I just love relating to a song about being dissatified about the lack of culture where you live. Though i'm a little bitter 'cos he moans about New York, one of the most exciting plces on earth. I live in the chav centre of britain. Yuck.

Interpol – The New Lyrics 20 years ago
Has anyone else heard Paul whisper " Oh my God..." in the interlude between the last chorus and that incredible riff at the end. It's really eerie..almost like Paul can see this violent change in the song coming. It's like a warning. Seriously, turn up the volume and hear it. It really freaks you out in the dark.

Interpol – Evil Lyrics 20 years ago
I think people are getting too wrapped up in the specific references in the song. To me the song is just beautiful, meloncholic but uplifting. Most of it is just about (to me) optimism and hope from finding someone to love you, and make you feel valid.

Whether this is rosemary or sandy i'll never know. Who cares?

"When you're friends they do come crying, tell them now you're pleasures set on slow release". Thats my my favourite line. He's been stuck alone with no cellmate, with no help, and now when people come crying he thinks you should let them know that you're happy and can't complicate you're life by getting wrapped up in other peoples problems.

"Why can't we look the other way?" to me thats about forgetting problems and looking towards what makes you happy.

Theres a lot left unsaid about this song, but to me it's just a beautiful song.

Interpol – Roland Lyrics 20 years ago
I'd like to personally thank you both for a very entertaining bitch slapping. Bobster - well done. I think you're spot on. Ethilien, I can see you're point, but really, bobsters nailed it, so don't bother with pretentious wailings about it all being open to interpretation.

I always thought in the part between the chorus and second verse Paul say's "C'mon Roland, lets go"

Kings of Leon – King of the Rodeo Lyrics 20 years ago
Wow, i feel pretty enlightened. I had NO idea what any of the lyrics were to this song - except that the last line sounded like "you touched my rolo". I guess sibling rivalry comes to a head when it comes to your last rolo.
