this song means a lot to me, mostly because i discovered it the week my boyfriend and i started going out. it reminds me of how new and exciting it was for us. "what is it? is this it? this is it." makes me think he's thinking, "is this love?" and then he's like, "yeah, it is." i love how how it says "how she shines." hell if i know what the chorus means; to me it's like he's up all night thinking about her. "never change these distances" is like he doesn't ever want things to change. but my favorite part is "green eyes: everything i see." god do i know what that feels like. they were even green, too. |

couple problems with the words: "take me back when our world was one big lie," it's supposed to be "take me back when our world was one block wide," (that's one of my favorite lines of the song) and "take me back to the creek that's reaching dark" is supposed to be "take me back to the creek beds we turned up." makes more sense, no? :D and, i think this song is so sweet. my favorite part is "and our daddies used to joke about the two of us, they never believed we'd really fall in love," and for some reason i liked how it says about how their mamas cried at their wedding. i wonder who mary is. |

| Oh dear Lord! I was expecting this song to have loads of comments! Anyhoo, it's awesome. I thought it was nothing special when I first listened to it, but now I love it. It's pretty obvious what it means, she's done with a guy and she's looking for a new start. I tend to read too much into things, but I think "old guitar and a brand new set of strings" could be a metaphor. She's the old guitar, and but she's got a new mindset. Something like that. I LOVE this song! with a passion! lol. There are a few special people that I care a lot about that I would say things like that to. I love the chorus. I think that what strikes me about this song is that it's not necessarily begging the person the song is directed at to fall in love with you or anything. It just says that you genuinely care about that person and it would make you so happy knowing they're happy, even if it means you two are apart. It's sort of refreshing like that, if that makes sense :D And yet, it says "I hope you know somebody loves you." Something about that is very comforting to me. I can't explain it. I love this song because the lyrics are different from other songs I listen to :D |
