Ok, I love this song. I absolutely love it, and it doesn't have anything to do with the lyrics. He could be singing about staplers for all I care. I would agree this song is about one person's battle with pop culture. I would really like to say that the "you" is pop culture. However, the "you" at and after the bridge is definitely not pop culture. So basically it's a nice conflict, resolved when he decides to let go (there is something very Buddhist about this). By letting go, he has found fulfillment by actually embracing a person rather than whatever it was he was trying to embrace before. I've given this entirely too much thought... |
