Afghan Whigs – My Curse Lyrics 18 years ago
I've heard the one with Dulli singing...I remember reading how he couldn't sing it on the album because the song hurt him too much

Soundgarden – Fresh Tendrils Lyrics 18 years ago
I always seen the "sits upon your tongue" not as a drug, but rather, as the pain the other person is giving the singer of the song, whetere it be words 'sitting upon (his/her) tongue or just that gaze full of hate people can give, a gaze thats 'naked in their eyes'...

I think it's more about a relationship than drugs, although drugs could be the shame that everyone tries. It could also be cheating or something, cheating he seen for a long time coming, and then the other person just rubs in his face.

I'm not really sure though, the only thing I know about this song is that it's awesome

Pearl Jam – State of Love and Trust Lyrics 20 years ago
I've always just seen the song about him trying to talk himself out of sucidie, turning to perhaps the angel on one shoulder and the devil on the other (both sides of a friend) and then possibly ending up pulling the trigger (i'll do this one myself)

Afghan Whigs – Bulletproof Lyrics 20 years ago
Really cool song right here, the live versions i've heard are even more incredible than the studio one. I've always seen Black Love as telling a story, although i'm not sure exsactly what that story is, but I do have the feeling that this is one very important peice of it. When he starts screaming "LOVE" at the end, that is one powerful moment

This has probably the most fucked up music video i've ever seen, really amazing, powerful song though. I'd reccomend anyone to watch this video if you ever get the chance, unless your weak of stomach

Jerry Cantrell – 31/32 Lyrics 20 years ago
31/32 was Layne Staley's and Jerry Cantrell's ages at the time the song was written, leading me to think the song wasn't just about Jerry's past, becuase some of it doesn't seem to fit in with him, more with Layne.

Soundgarden – Black Hole Sun Lyrics 20 years ago
I've always looked at the end of the world interpritation myself. How society is sick and something needs to be done.

Theres the first line "in my eyes, indisposed"which I take as "In my eyes, you are all sick, need to be destoryed". Then he talks about how disguise, and how the the snake lies in the disguise, the snake obviouslt standing for the devil and evil, meaning possibly how evil is waiting in something as good as the sun, whcih brings us life, when the sun decided to go. Wheter the sun has enough mass to become a black hole is pretty damn irrelevant here, since he's hoping for it to come, not saying "according to my calculations it will come in X ammount of years"

Then he says how neath the black the sky looks dead, which I picture a scroached sky before all hell breaks loose. He also says "call my name through the cream and i'll hear you scream again", and after thinking about what the cream could be for a few minutes, I imagined cool whip and realised the cream obviously means the clouds, and the narrorator could in heaven, possibly God himself, as the people called out to him when it all ended.

I also remember hearing somewhere that the second verse tied into Andy Wood alot, it was a bunch of referecnes to him, but i'm not really sure on that

Soundgarden – 4th of July Lyrics 20 years ago
I always considered it about Armageddon myself, especially that middle verse. I don't know too much on the subject, but from what I understand when the end of the world does come the good are supposed to go to Heaven and the bad are to remain on earth when it becomes hell. I could be totally off but I remember seeing this somewhere.

Anyways, I see the part about the sacred light, that being what takes the good up to heaven, but the narrorator is still here on earth, and "the fire" or hell is taking over , and no one wants to talk about it. Thats just what I seen it as.
