When you refer to true meaning, I think you should rephrase it to The Who's interperetation of the song as a collective or as Pete's interpretation. Because I think the song is what it is. There should be no sidenote to tell you what you should feel or what its "really" about. And I am not saying that we shouldn't be curious what Pete was thinking when he wrote this, but I just think that Pete's interpretation shouldn't change the feelings that resonate when we hear this. I have seen The Who play this twice, I get chills everytime Pete's sings his verse on record or live. Great Band. |

This song is so beautiful. This sounds very "Stairway To Heaven" ish. If Stone would have broke into a solo and a drum vamp. |

| Stone Temple Pilots – Trippin' on a Hole in a Paper Heart Lyrics | 20 years ago |

I love this song. Let me tell you why. 1.Scott's vocals, he add the most diverse library of tones and moods for his voice. Lot's of his songs sound different and it always kept the sound fresh. Grunge lead singers always had great voices Chris Cornell, Eddie Vedder (eww), Kurdt and Layne, but all of their vocals sound relatively the same. (A few soundgarden songs being an exception). 2.The solo, I love this solo. It sounds sooo bad, which makes the song so much better. It sounds like a trainwreck and gives the song a lot more experience of what the trip is like. 3.Lyrics, no explaining. |

| Stone Temple Pilots – Days Of The Week Lyrics | 20 years ago |

I like this song, It is poppy but I think the pilots can get away with it. STP were always eating shit. The critics hated them, the "hipsters" hated them and they had a small audience. Eddie Vedder is probably the biggest bitch for hating on STP and all his followers that follow his every word did the same. They were great band, this song is great and I would rather listen to this song over any other Pearl Jam album/track/babbiling. Scott you derseve all the kudos. While all the "grunge" artists were complaining about "Our scene is being ruined, we are making soo much money and getting all the chicks" you just sat back and layed some awesome records. I am from seattle and I know firsthand how egotistical and hypocritical the "scene" is . Thank you scott for the great albums! The above doesn't apply to all Seattle bands, just the bitches. |

This song is about not getting what you want and then being consoled. Kurdt said "it's just something that happend when I was young, my parents would leave and I'd throw fits". This is the only Nirvana song I cover, its very playful and hard to butcher. I don't mess around with anyother of there songs. |

The only good song Ja Rule ever made. He good have been an awesome vocalist for electronic tracks. I always play this at the 5/8th mark of the rave. Its a nice slow down dance, but still has energy. The beat is hot, lyrics are okay. The only good song and a pretty good song in genral. What wasted talent |

| Aisha_08 is the only one who got Richard Ashcroft's intended meaning. Richard Ashcroft did state to BBC that this song is about his friends battle and untimely death to heroin, however he said he wrote in a way that nonuser (Rich is a nonuser by the way) can understand and apply to their life. He wrote the song from his friends point of view and it is basically narrative of a his heroin problem. I will decipher. When I refer to he, I am referring to a heroine addict/Richard's friend. "It's a bittersweet syphmony, that's life..." Is referring to life in general and heroin. Heroin is arguably the best physical feeling (while high) in the known world, but the unwanted effects are horrible. This next line is very important to the song and shows a heroin addicts irresponsibility and their habit of making excuse of their problem. "Try to make ends meet , you're a slave to the money then you die.", when addicted to heroin all junkies care about is getting money for a fix, so instead of admitting he is a slave to heroin, he is making an excuse and saying he is a slave to money. “I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down. You know the one that takes you to the places where all the things meet, yeah.” He now is admitting his problem and is telling a loved one that he is going down the road of addiction and if you stay you will end up dead . “No change, I can change, I can change, I can change, but I'm here in my mold , I am here in my mold.” He is about to inject the needle and he realizes how weak he is and states there is no change. After the high he thinks he can stop, but he is in a “mold” or rut and the addiction cycle is so tough it will be almost impossible. "But I'm a million different people from one day to the next.”. By a “million different people” he means his mind state is changing all the time and his view on heroin changes with it. “Well I've never prayed,But tonight I'm on my knees, yeah.” This line is pretty obvious, he hit rock bottom and he is looking for his last lifeline, God. “I need to hear some sounds that recognize the pain in me, yeah.” When he says that he basically is say heroin is the only thing that knows me and it can help. “I let the melody shine, let it cleanse my mind , I feel free now.” He just shot up heroin and this is the time he is happiest and most at peace with himself and the world. “But the airwaves are clean and there's nobody singing to me now.” He just overdosed and now there is no pain. The rest is basically more of the same. I really want to emphasize that this song doesn’t have to be about heroin, It’s whatever you get out of it. When I hear this song I think about how insignificant life is yet how much I need it. | |
