| James Blunt – You're Beautiful Lyrics

I haven't read all the posts on this song so I don't know if this has been said yet or not, but I heard through the grapevine that james' girlfriend died, so I assumed that most of his music might be about that. It makes the song fairly self explanatary, and the film clip could be trying to portray him in heaven with her, hence the white ground he is on, then him leaving his stuff behind, his dead girlfriend maybe (?), and coming back to earth (back to bedlam). |

| Flogging Molly – To Youth (My Sweet Roisin Dubh) Lyrics

They refered to Ireland as Roisin Dubh because poets were forbidden to write political verse, and therefore came up with Roisin Dubh to mean Ireland. I think he has gotten frustrated more literally with the conditions in Ireland, so he is leaving even though he loves his country. Just as a person leaves a loved one even though they do love them. |

This song, like the rest of the album, can be read as biblical, as well as being connoted to his wife and the island, the healing powers of Jesus Christ. the whole album is themed in christianity: the hollow, magdalena, rose, judith...etc etc etc...also the name of the album is evidence of this. mer de noms, or sea of names, could mean that the events and people in the biblical stories told hear are known in many different names throughout the album. |

| A Perfect Circle – Thomas Lyrics

the whole mer de noms album has christian themes through the lyrics, however they could possibly only be themes representing other issues in life. it doesn't matter what those themes were to maynard because is is up to us to work it out ot mean something to us. the father theory that pieisgood said might be relevant to one person, but not to me. that doesn't mean it is wrong, simply irrelevant to me. but parabola, i know what you mean, i didnt think they would play Thomas at the concert but they did and i was stoked cuz it is my favourite APC song and has more tragic family meaning to me and quite literally about someone called Thomas.
but the christian themes are obvious form go to woah. magdalena ??? hmmm. mary magdalene - 'so pure, so rare.' definitely |

Killah-sama, how can you say it isn't an intellectual song? it was written very well for the theme the writers were trying to convey. the immediate meaning of this song is nostalgic 80s, but it doesn't need to mean that to everyone. When I was just listening to it I realised that it relates to anyone's idea of looking back and being confused with the way htings have changed. I just finished driving my two younger cousins into town and the way they are is so different to how i was like them 5 years ago when i was still their age. the whole song is a connotation to lost youth in time, which SR-71 were probably aiming at the 80s cuz they were probably teenagers then. i was born in 85, but i still have a hangover for motley crue, old metallica, transformers, voltron, teenage mutant ninja turtles. but to someone born in 95 it will mean missing hangin out playin playstation and talking on celll phones. |

| Cradle of Filth – Amor E Morte Lyrics

ARGH...just when someone got it right, a few ppl og and ruin it...Amor e Morte does mean LOVE AND DEATH. i can see where fadetoflashes is confused...e means and, whereas é i sa conjugated verb for "it is". LOVE AND DEATH people...this song like most of the songs cradle do, seems essentially, and a will probably be burned for this, about love so strong it is absolute...hence the damnation of everything and the evil nature to everything. in an early christian viewpoint, somehting so good must be evil, which is why Dani probably writes lyrics in such evil language. His love for his wife and child Luna have long been known to be so devine "neither the artists pallette nor the poets pen" can describe their ebon beauty. |

| Cradle of Filth – Bathory Aria: Benighted Like Usher/A Murder of Ravens in Fugue/Eyes That Witnessed Madness Lyrics

firstly, I'm not a goth. I just like interesting music. Secondly, this is the best song on the album, however, each song shold nto be listened to individually, it is a 'rock (metal) opera' which should be heard as one peice with 10 movements.
Having cleared that up, this song is SAD to the point where i enarly have tears. The fact that it is the fall of Liz is sad because, no matter how sinister her methods were, she was simply searching for love. It was no coincidence that she discovered the secret to eternal youth after her husband died. being old and less attractive than she had been in her youth, the onyl man who wanted her was the old man she had denied since before she was married. Elizabeth's plight can be found in any one of us who desires to be loved. the music to this piece, however, is beautiful in terms of beautiful metal songs. Dani's literary skills are second to none when considering metal lyricists. |

yeah that is a kinda accurate understanding of the song...i think the song is mainly about society as osmeone earlier said...but the way the bureaucrats attempt to pacify the public the way they see fit, which does not sit well with everyone...don't get me wrong, I am not an anti-establishment crusader, on the contrary, I am completely white-colar, but from a nonconfromists point of view, this song cries out the fact that people in society need different attentions, and that the current (in the 80s) system does not aggree with the narrator's idea. |

I saw them perform this song at the Gold Coast Big Day Out here in Australia and they definitely had an emotion about them when they sang this song - which even overshadowed their pride singing No Sleep til Brooklyn, which apparantly hasn't been performed many times in their career. They are one of the very few performers/entertainers who make you want to go to New York. Great song. |

Why does it have to be an abusive relationship or one where someone is treated badly. Someties people just have relationships that have no external indicators but the perosn is just not feeling like they are in control/getting what the need. Definitely about someone who loves someone whom they don't think they should, but it doesn't necessarily mean he/she abuses them. They just can't seem to let them go, hence the chorus, "the last time I'll forget you/I wish I could." Considering the attitude towards relationships on other Absolution songs, I can't grasp that it is about abusiveness. But, this is an understanding from 3 years after the song came out, and with the speed of change nowadays, it could have meant anything. |

I haven't read any posts apart from what ar eon page one and this last page, but in a live recording i have of this song from 2000 (it's on cassette so I can't post it anywhere yet) Maynard says that it is a bitter song about a girl he was in a relationship with who was too frightened to show who she really was and ended up leaving without telling him. A year later, she "hears the album, loves it" so calls him to say so. He asks her what she thought of the song #libras and she said, "yeah beautiful song" so he got upset cuz he wanted her to hear that song and realise it was about her weakness. There, straight from Maynards mouth, which probably makes it less credible than any understanding cuz you never know when Maynard is bullshitting or speaking the truth. I do know, however, that he does not like the fans. I figured this out when I saw him in the Brisbane mall in Australia a few hours before we went ot see APC, and I went to shake his hand, but with him not even moving an eyelide, his bodyguard decked me. Still, went to the show, and it was great. As goo das seeing Tool from front row in 2002. |

If you 14 and 15 yr olds think this song represents you now, what will you do when you are 20+ (like me) and still without someone (although past relationships have been and gone) who you really can depend on??? I don't know of any other songs that could extend this feeling. All the same, it is good to see young people embracing Queen's songs. |

I hate to bring drugs into every rock n rol song, but considering the time that this song was written, I don't think that drugs should be ruled out of its meaning. the entire first three verses can be read as a young man getting cought up in drugs and seeing that it has ruined his young life. All the lines connote to it. in the third verse, when he disregards himself of significance, it is like saying "I have become a loser who deserves no charity or thought." Maybe. I have read a few translations that are either inaccurate or just shallow and skin deep understandings (Drizzt, I'm talking botu you) but mostly this song can be put in most contexts. |

yeah, anyone who has read "the dirt" will know that he wrote it while he was reading the 'Necronomicon' and that it was originally called 'Shout with the devil'. The lyrics were also changed because in the original script for the song all the "He's" were "I". "I'm the wolf screaming lonely in the night, I'm the bloodstain on the stage." And yes it was changed because the manager knew it would not get marketed by Elektra if they didn't change it. |

| Mötley Crüe – Wild Side Lyrics

This song is deeper than just being about the fast lanes of LA. It is about that side, but in contrast to the moral, healthy side to society, and how it will be there if anything (really) bad happens. "I carry my crucifix under my deathlist" is a connotation to the idea that Nikki/Vince (whichever one wrote this song) keeps a connection with that world he knows he will rejoin one day - "doing time on the wild side". Maybe. That is my understanding and anyone who disaggrees, say so without degrading me or my opinion. And only disaggree if you have a good reason. |
