Personally I think this song is about someone who is attraced or even "loves" another person they were close to at one point. The other person, however, didn't feel the same way and it was just idk..maybe a quick thing at a party or something? The person is basically obsessed with the other person but is too afraid to say it for fear of hurting and driving away the other person. "love, it taught me to lie" I think that shows that a little bit right there. "you step a little closer to me.. so close that I cant see what's going on.." Their absolutely entranced when that one is around and its all he they can think about even when their not around.."there's still a little bit of your ghost..your weakness" "so come on courage
teach me to be shy" It takes a lot to do that, to have a severe attraction to someone but to never tell them.
That's all I am basically going to say because I think you know where I'm going with my point. I think I view it this way because that is the situation I am in. I like this girl so much but I could never be with her because she loves my friend. Although, she always is complaining or crying to me about their relationship. It seriously is one of the hardest things, if not the hardest, that I've come across in my life. |

If you guys wanna see some truely emotional bands why not listen to Incubus? Stellar is one of the most amazing songs I can think of. They've managed to create many cd's and many songs about a whole variety of subjects. Like someone said before TBS just seems to recycle their lyrics and music. Now, they might not, but to me thats what it really sounds like. I thought I liked them but after listening to them again for the first time since the summer I realize their not good. Listen to Modest Mouse, Nuetral Milk Hotel, or Incubus, anyone but them. You shouldn't really listen to me, however, as its just my opinion but TBS really cant be called a good band in my opinion. |

Songs arent written to have one meaning. Sure the author writes it in a way to make his point to himself. However, just because a song means one thing to me and another to you were both not wrong. You cant be wrong when explaining and expressing what something means to you. The sooner everyone realizes that the easier it becomes to realize what the meaning of the song actually is.
