| Sloan – Coax Me Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i'm writing an analysis on this piece for a music assignment, and this thought just occoured to me while i aimlessly rambled. i'm just going to copy and paste the exerpt: Murphy is more known as the "witty" member of Sloan, writing interesting and thoughtful songs with subjective lyrics. Coax Me is no exception to this. At this time, Sloan was trapped in a power struggle with their label, Geffen Records (which is the same label as Nirvana was on). While Sloan were leaning toward further developing their now signature indie pop sound, Geffen were insistent on the band developing their grunge sound. The sound Geffen wanted was more in line with Nirvana, and the lyrics may subtly hint displeasure with this. Critisizing Nirvana’s fans (It's not the band I hate it's their fans, second verse) may have been Murphy’s silent form of protest. what do you guys think of this? an interesting double standard? |

| Sloan – Loosens Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"Put me back Into the same shape How you found me Before you broke me Frozen where I stand Take you by the hand Your grip just loosens" that pretty much sums it all up. awesome song. |
| Sloan – Bells On Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| and this is why Twice Removed is one of the greatest albums of all time. | |
| Dinosaur Jr. – Poledo Lyrics | 18 years ago |
the song's about religion. barlow's saying god/jesus do exist and blind faith isn't the way. they could help "When you forget your name Jesus laughs" but they don't. i love this song. it's great. great acoustic noise rock. |

| Inkwell – Pink?...No No...What About Whimsical? Lyrics | 18 years ago |
it's about a relationship screwing up over and over, but when it works it feels so good so they dont stop. it's eating you up on the inside but you just keep going, and you say that you can't keep going but you do. sounds like my relationship atm. SIGH. |
| Bloodpit – Bad Echo Lyrics | 18 years ago |
easily the best song on mental circus i think its about someone being haunted with memories of someone else, and the lyricist is trying to accept what's happening rather than keep thinking about them and causing him nightmares. weird subject. |
| Goldfinger – Ocean Size Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think so too - Ocean Size and My Everything are the best tracks on there. | |
| Goldfinger – Wayne Gretzky Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I'd actually rather have sex with Modano - but that's just me :P. I think i even did a speech on him when i was in grade 5.....lol. Goldfinger rule. |
| Blindside – Shekina Lyrics | 19 years ago |

| Autopilot Off – Indebted Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Different versions? Is the one on the Autopilot Off EP the old or the new one? | |
| Autopilot Off – Divine Intervention Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I think it's more about preparing yourself for the future with things like: Trust "The face we show, The one we hide, The hands we hold and leave behind" Knowing what you think you're doing at the time is right "The wait for redemption, It gets heavy on the mind, And I burn my eyes out staring at the sun", "To ride along the horizon, When these days are gone, It's what we become" Trying not to rely on something too heavily "The ties we bind, The ones we break, The solid ground beneath us shakes" Learning to accept advice: "Answer me the question, I'm ready to believe, I hold my breath before I let it out" Savouring the moment, even if you didn't achieve it by yourself "Divine intervention, Hanging in the air we breathe, And I'll fill my lungs with all that they can hold" The song fucking rules, too. |

| Treble Charger – Even Grable Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The moving away thing makes sence - "I feel so sorry, So friendly it hurts" probably means Greig has some regrets about the past and misses them, but "Need to speak when you're yelling and yelling" means that he'll never forget them, and what they've been though. Something else i've thought of, if you get the meaning (more like an emotion, actually) of each verse/chorus it tells a little story. At first (to me) it's anger, sadness, clarity then loneliness/remorse. |

| Treble Charger – Deception Made Simple Lyrics | 19 years ago |
My favourite Treble Charger song. I mean, for now anyway :P Interpreting lyrics from TC's early days is sometimes hard because they weren't very lyrically advanced, but i think its about a love hate relationship where they both feed off each others personalities for entertainment, hence Deception Made Simple. |

| Autopilot Off – The Cicada's Song Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I think this is actually about the writer seeing a UFO or something totally insane and scary but no ones believes him, and the only proof he has is the Cicada's (Out in the night, the cicada's sing thier song). "I don't know if there's a Heaven, but I'm sure that there's a Hell" And as weird as this sound, i thing the "I feel the knife...Like the first time breathing in" part is about someone trying to cover up the secret that he saw by the same people that hide the truth, "Cause no-one hears a thing". Bit strange, but thats what this song means to me. |
| Autopilot Off – Voice In The Dark Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think this is about someone being kidnapped and the writer is struggling to find the person. While he can't actually find the person he doesn't give up till the end, hence "If there's a light, leave it on" and "Faith is just a promise I will make for you, Places that are haunted, I will wait for you" in the start, and "I'll leave my faith, Waiting to come down" by the end. | |
| Autopilot Off – I Know You're Waiting Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think this songs about someone liking a girl, and the girl liking them back, but no one actually having the courage to do something about it. I think the 'it turned from black to blue' means that he finally has clarity about something, like to do it. But in the end she's got over him and she's with someone else "Now I'm weightless, Staring out across the view" | |
| Less Than Jake – Motto Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| This is only the greatest less than jake song EVER! | |
| Treble Charger – American Psycho Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Woah those lyrics are horribly wrong. Awesome song though, it's about a regular person selling out and becoming "Cover of the magazines, patron saint for troubled teens".... |
| Treble Charger – Even Grable Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| WOAH! Can't belive no one has commented on this! It's by far one of TC's best, possibly even THE best song. Anyway i think its about a failing relationship, and when they try to give it another shot they just mess it up (why do you yell at me, you're always yelling), and from what i can think of Even Grable (i think) must mean something like for what its worth, cause if you have that in mind and read the chorus it makes sence. | |
| Gob – 236 E. Broadway Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| 236 E. Broadway is a won ton restauraunt in Canada. He's just sitting alone thinking about all the times he's messed up and he's complentating his future... | |
| Broken Social Scene – Cause = Time Lyrics | 20 years ago |
It does seem like it's about the priests sexually assaulting the kids: "Little pistols and companion halls Desperation tentacles I've been alone since '89" To me that sums it up. Think sexual ;) |
| Blindside – Shekina Lyrics | 20 years ago |
To me Shekina seems like a godess: "I know you're always throwing kisses from the sky Well, tonight I caught one" and "It's just you, me and the moon" They all say that Shekina is in the sky, and you wouldn't wanna catch a kiss from a guy if you were one, right? |
| Gob – The Perfect Remedy Lyrics | 20 years ago |
You both sicken me :P But the rubber stopper line makes more sence now..... |
