This is an awesome song!.. How can some people not see behind the whole cursing and vulgar language?? To me this is a song about a woman that has a deep rage against the fact that society still limits women to so many things. She got "screwed over" by society bc of the fact that she is a woman, and she is just fed up with the title of being a woman and not being able to be free to do whatever it is she wants without having to go through criticism. She doesnt want to care anymore of what people say of her, she just wants to be free to do anything without being condemned, just like men do. Its an amazing song, with too much feeling in it, and that feeling is added with the vulgar language. Its a combination of rage and freedom, because she has taken the determination to become this person that she has always wanted to be, free from criticism. |

Tu, is such a gorgeous song, it touches me so deeply. Its amazing how us women just completely give everything of us when we are in love. This is what Shakira is saying in this song. She wants to let him know how much meaning he has for her, how much impact he has on her life, to the point that she is willing to give him everything in her power in order for him to stay... Te regalo mi cintura (I'll give you my waist) y mis labios para cuando quieras besar te regalo mi locura (and my lips just so you can kiss them whenever you want,, Ill give you my insanity) y las pocas neuronas que quedan ya (and the last neurons I have left) I love that part.. It just lets him know that she nows its insane all he means to her, but she just cannot control it.. I recommend to hear the Unplugged version it gives it such a nice touch.. |

This and inevitable are my favorite songs of Shakira.. The truth is, that her music in spanish is sooo much deeper than the one that she writes in english. Sombra de ti, is literally "shadow of you" pretty much talks about a true love that a person has and that this memory and fixation of that person haunts you all the time when you are going to start to love again debes saber (you should know) que hay pedazos de tu boca sin querer (that there are pieces of your mouth by mistake) regados por aquí (thrown around here) y que tropiezo cada día sin pensar (and I trip over them everyday without noticing) con un viejo recuerdo mas (with another old memory) y alguna nueva historia gris (and a new grey story) si no puedo estar contigo (if I can't be with you) ya no puedo estar sin ti (I can't be without you) cada vez se hace mas duro ser feliz (each time its harder for me to be happy) It just resembles the deep impact a person can have on you to the point of not letting you open up to other people easily.. |
