SikTh – Tupelo (Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds cover) Lyrics 18 years ago
The original song had alot of the ideas for Caves first novel in it. Based on fact, there was the Tupelo/Gainesville Outbreak, which was a pretty nasty storm that killed a fair few people. At the time Elvis was around a year and a half old - give or take. As well as that, Elvis was the younger of twins, the older who died soon after birth.
So yeah those facts kinda create the basis for this apocalyptic sorta picture - whether or not there's more to it than just Nick Caves mental imagination - who knows? That's part of the fun!
SikTh version kicks ass tho, especially in the dark and rain...

Green Day – Boulevard of Broken Dreams Lyrics 20 years ago
Heres something for you all to think about. Does it really matter if a song is technically brilliant? Is it vital that it has multiple time signatures, excellent key changes to fuse parts together, and has sweep picking and lighning fast arpeggios? Maybe it does, but to me, a song means what it says to you when you listen to it, not what it looks like when you break it down. This song might be a piece of piss to play, in 4/4 timing and really straight forward. But to me, it highlights feelings everyone has felt at some point in their lives, and thats what music is all about, at least as far as I'm concerened. Also, Greenday might not be as technically wonderful as Dream Theatre or any other band out there, but they've made their money, and they've secured theirs and their families futures. And I doubt very much that Billie Joe has trouble sleeping ebcause his guitar playing is too simple. We have our own opinions, this is just mine.
