| The Weakerthans – Virtute the Cat Explains Her Departure Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
The name Virtute comes from the city of Winnipeg's latin motto "Unum Cum Virtute Multorum" which means "One With the Strength of Many". So Virtute at least in that instance means Strength... so I see a lot of meaning in the owner losing a cat name "Strength" and the cat forgetting "Strength" |

| The lyrics are St. Vital instead of St. Fratel, and St. Boniface and St. Vital are area's in the city of Winnipeg where the Weakerthans are from | |
| The Weakerthans – One Great City! Lyrics | 20 years ago |

One Great City! was this silly civic pride slogan from a few years back. It's on the signs when you drive into Winnipeg. I love this song, and the part that always gets me is the line "And up above us all, leaning into sky, our Golden Business Boy will watch the North End die" The Golden Boy is this statue on top of the legislature, and he faces north because back when it was built in the early part of the century they had him facing north because thats where they thought the future of our province was... and instead of looking north to the future, he'll watch the north end die. |
