| The Flaming Lips – There You Are: Jesus Song No. 7 Lyrics

Seems fairly straightforward... but in really raw, beautiful kind of way... really hits you once the vocals are done.
It seems like a Lips thing sometimes, to present a sinking sort of hopelessness, but then accent it with that sad-smile vibe that things'll work out... or that everything's messed up, but that's all right... |

It's a b-side from The Soft Bulletin. It's included on the DVD of the 5.1 version.
Nice song. Is that still Wayne singing when it goes into "See, I thought I wasn't mad'? |

I think it could also be a commentary on the amount of aesthetic oppression women have to face every day in modern society. This girl keeps trying to change, struggling to be "pretty", possibly to the point of plastic surgery, yet all the while straying further and further from herself, who this fellow loves truly. |

Simply one of my favourites, of IME, of music. Lyrically, musically, Soft Bomb Salad reeks of pure genius. That's what I think anyway :) |

I think you're on to something there, but I don't think it has to be religion - feels like it could be anything that seems to sweep the world and trap people in ignorance. Awesome song - what a chorus! |
