Lonnie Donegan – Putting on the Style Lyrics 11 years ago
i think putting on the style is a song about doing things that aren't in your heart, but that serve basic social functions. joking around, trying to impress people, etc.

The Microphones – The Mansion Lyrics 18 years ago
I find this song to be very depressing and beautiful. To me, it is about a place: The Mansion. It's a dark and desolate place... creepy, unsettling. "There's no door into the mansion..." makes me think they're trapped inside and no one can get to them. "A curve without a warning," "there's no wayside, there's no stopping, and the peak is wide and rocky" gives it an unsafe feeling. "We built walls, tall and solid between the treasure and the shovel." An impossible feeling. They'll never get the treasure. I want to go to this mansion... It sounds so much like places I've dreamed of. Feelings I've felt.

Our Lady Peace – Is Anybody Home? Lyrics 20 years ago
whenever i hear this song, the end of the world sort of comes to mind. raine maida makes things sound a little chaotic. "tonight, your faith has come down to money and a TV." for some reason, i don't really feel the materialism in it. instead, it gives me a sense of not having much. "white teeth, a ticket to meet god" it's like people trying to make themselves look good so that they can go to heaven. the white teeth portraying that, and the ticket to meet god portraying the end of the world. from reading everyone's comments though, i see that it could mean the death of not the world, but the people in it. and not physically, but mentally. maybe. :) "hey, is anybody home?" and "has anybody..." those lines, i think they're both searching for comfort or reassurance that they're not alone. explosions and chaos come to mind when i hear parts of this song. stillness and slowness at others. space, too. it makes me feel nice.
