Oh come on the lyrics are stupid. In the first verse he is says even though shes got another man, it doesnt matter coz he's got this great plan to get her. But then the rest of the song he is moaning about how he'll never have her, it just feels like desperate rthyming. |

I think this song is about 9/11. The album is political so it would fit and the use of the month September and it being the 11th tarck on the album are a bit too coincidental. There are probably elements of his fathers death as well, ut the first time I heard it I though it was about 9/11. The video is a lad going to war after a summer of love and having to grow up quickly. I think the line "wake me up when September ends" is talking about 9/11 and the aftermath of it, (the Iraq war, the bombing of Afganistan), and how Billie_Joe doesnt believe in it all. |
