Just listening to the older albums, you can get the impression that he is manic. I think anyway. He seems pretty... realistically desperate. What album is this off of? I thought that I had all of them... guess not. They never cease to amaze me...

Alice Falling Down... while I admire your attempt at being analytical, I would have to say... look at the context of the song. While MM members do, very obviously, do drugs, I do not think that "Well, A fake Jamacian took every last dime with the scam" is in refrence to good bud... or fake good bud. If you look at the next line... "It was worth it just to learn some sleight of hand." It would seem as thought they got some foresight out of the whole scam... which leads me to think that they are making refrence to Cleo- the FAKE Jamacian psychic. Does that makes sense?

Muh agreed drjones. I was just about to say something along those lines, but since it has already been said I suppose that it would be redundant. I think that this CD shows that the badn is maturing and growing out of their... well I can't say that they are coming out of their drunken, high stupor, but I think that the lyrical content does suggest it. Take "The Good Times Are Killing Me". The True fan is the one that stands behind the band regardless of their popularity. I have- Shit, I go to their shitty shows even. They suck live as far as I am concerned. The point is... they rock and have had a significant impact on the music scene these last 10-12 years.

This song seems to be talking about God. God is the light and people THINK that his glory can be lost, when things become desperate. He is commanding who ever betrayed him to remember the pain of the betrayal; people do this all the time to God. They don't give credit where it is due and blame unjustly. But knowing Dave's style, or thinking that I do, it seems more likely that he is talking about forsaken love and blaming the woman. Beautiful song no less. Some Devil is not nearly as happy as previous CDs.
