| Nada Surf – Everybody Lies Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I always interpreted the line about lying to go to sleep meaning he has to lie to himself to be okay with the things he does so that he can sleep easily (i.e. lie to free his conscience). My friend told me she thinks it might mean he has to lie to the one he's in bed with to go to sleep. I also have always found Nada Surf to have a fascination with reality and what is or isn't real. They manage to capture it perfectly with "Most of it's not there/ Everything and everywhere". I love it! |

The lyrics are wrong. It's definitely not "Jonathon Fisk speaks with his first" it's "fist". Also, "I wanna get him all back now" not "I wanna get all back now" |

| I was just talking to a friend who knows French better than me and she said the last bit means something more like "put our words to sleep" so it still means "don't talk", just different imagery. | |

Well, I'm not that good in French but the literal translation would be something like this: The girl dances When she plays with me And I think that I love her sometimes The silence doesn't dare speak, so When we're together Put the words On the little "dodo" I have no idea what dodo means. I've only ever known it as the extinct bird. I tried to look it up but got nothing. It might be a slang word or he might have invented it. Anyway, I think it's just a cool way to describe something. Like, if you don't get along when you talk, just put your words away, it's just sex. And the "when she plays with me" sounds kinda cheaply sexual and it very well might be but keep in mind that the translation doesn't exactly work and it's just a way of saying "When we play" not necessarily her performing an action on him, if you know what I mean. But that would work too. |

My favourite lines are "And then later trippin at 7-11 The shelves were stretching out of control" Like, it just reminds me of late nights when you go to an actual 7-11 and you're making too much noise and goofing off, he captured it in a few words. |

| Nada Surf – Your Legs Grow Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| What a sweetly beautiful song. Nada Surf's definitely the only band that can make a song like this that sort of sounds haunting but that still sounds so beautiful. And when he says "You're the only person in the world" you can totally hear and feel the like longing in his voice. Well-crafted yet simple. | |
| Nada Surf – Why Are You So Mean To Me? Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I agree with lazarzmongo2. But I don't get "I remember my first time/ I knew I had to cross the line" Like, is he saying that he had to tell someone? First time? | |
