I think this pretty much sums up the whole whole with a extravagant ending. This is the Iraqi soldier bummed out at the end, but the choir lifts up his spirits and tells him to go on with life. |

This song is the 2nd in the final string of songs. This is the aftermath of "Fire Coming Out Of The Monkey's Head", which leaves the metaphorical US in desolation and corruption. Chances are the man who is looking at this aftermath is the Iraqi soldier. |

rhavin hit it head on, except that I think that the strangefolk are the Bush Administration that is benefitting out of Mount Monkey which represents the war, which to the happyfolk (Americans) think is helping them out, destroys both the happyfolk (Soldiers stationed in Iraq and the families that suffer from it) and strangefolk (The Bush Aministration which is at this very moment slowly getting discredited, losing popularity fast). Great narrative by the villain in Speed (Was that the name?) Nice beat and some excellent lyrics, it always does my heart good to see albums against Bush. Artists at War 1. Gorillaz 2. Rolling Stones (Mick Jagger says to Bush in his upcoming album that he's a crock full of shit) 3. Green Day (American Idiot makes it obvious) and the list will grow... |

At first glance, this songs seems to talk about sex, due to the porno-sounding music, but going along with the Iraq war theory, this is the soldier probably starting to party after his drinking bout in "White Light", trying to loosen up. The video is kinda weird with Shaun Ryder's (I absoulutely don't know this guy, so if anyone can give better clues...) head activated by Noodle in her (gasp!) actual room represented even better than on the site (not to mention, you get to see what Kong Studios looks like on the outside) Anyway, Shaun starts a whole party in Noodle's room, getting her to dance and making both Russ and 2D curious. Plus, the ending is bjorkin' hilarious. (Murdoc's cameo) |

Along with the Iraq war interpretation, it's essentially the soldier drunk after his problems in "Every Planet We Reach Is Dead" and "All Alone". Because of the recent events he resorts to alcohol to bring him peace. I like how 2-D mimicks the instruments, reminds me of myself when I try to come with my own ideas. |

Even though as much as I hate to admit it, it does seem vanilla is right for the umph time, except that what the rapper meant by "the cup that runneth over" is a saying that has to do with the holy grail/communion. But here's my interpretation: Along with the Iraq war theme, I believe this is about the said soldier, who is all alone after the encouter with the one lady in "Every Planet We Reach Is Dead", so if you think of the lyrics as him being alone doing mundane things like drinking, eating, getting stoned, masturbating, doing work, and fantasizing about the girl that left him, it all makes sense. Maybe it's just me, but I doubt the gorillaz would make a song about something like masturbation. (personally, I think they would make a song like that because they're a cartoon band and don't any other songs that talk about sexually explicit themes.) Song's good over all, nice beat, silly chipmunk, playful rap, and a gorgeous, angelic vocal by Martina Topley Bird (I could imagine her being pretty hot). |

I have to agree with WantedMan, I miss Del Tha Funkee Homosapien, who easily trumps all the new fill-in rappers with sensible and quite intelligent lyrics. This is my order for the rapper arrangements 1. DTFH (Clint Eastwood and Rock The Hose) Sweet flow and lyrics 2. Bootie Brown (Dirty Harry) Some insightful lyrics on the Iraq war 3. De La Soul (Feel Good Inc.) Some silly rhymes at first, but then fits in with the song 3. MF Doom (This song) The song is too playful with lyrics and is kinda nonsensical most of the time 4. Roots Manuva (All Alone) Average overall FYI this is my frickin' opinion ok, don't go flaming me for my tastes. And to end off, lahdeefrigginda might be on to something as the album has to do with the Iraq war. |

Well, I guess I'll tackle this one down here, adding in that it's an Iraqi soldier looking for love: I'll give two different interpretations, the 1st is the man talking to himself and the other talking to the girl. " I lost my leg like I lost my way So no loose ends Nothing to see me down How are we going to work this out? " The soldier is depressed after the war/Tells the girl what he's gone through "Dreams aren't bad, I had to admit I love the girl But God only knows it's Getting harder to see the sun coming through I love you - But what are we going to do? " It's hard to get this one girl to come on to him, so he wonders what he could do./Tells her that he loves her but he says that he doesn't know if she loves him too. "Picture I'm the dreamer I'll take you deeper Down to the sleepy glow Time is a low, Don't you know? What are we going to do?" He's fantasizing of how life would be with her, but notices that times running out./He tells her how he would love her, but he says that he's getting anxious. "When you go down All the sick and selfless days" He's thinking to himself that he'll suffer a lot when time runs out, and he was never able to get to her/Tell her that she'll regret not having a relationship with him "I want to see you again I love you - But what are we going to do?" He still watches from afar, not knowing what he can do/The girl refuses him, and hopes to meet up with her again But that's just me. |

I guess vanilla hit the nail on the head there, but I'd probably add the fact he's a man stationed in Iraq. Oh and btw, the article is wrong, it's supposed to be "La" instead of "El" |

| Gorillaz – Feel Good Inc. Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
Actually Cheechstylez might actually be right, because the album has to do with the Iraq war, or the end of days/demon days. But the only thing that gets in the way is that when you see the lyrics and the video, it mainly has to do with hedonism. Also there's always the chance that Albarn meant the song to have double entendre. |

| Gorillaz – Feel Good Inc. Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
Quote: [Great Song, it's hauntingly good, much like Stairway to Heaven (creepy but good vocals and lyrics). The only downside to the song is the rap, but there's is a reason to it, which I'll mention below. I've never heard much of Gorillaz before, but this is giving me a great impression. (I want Demon Days for sure now.) That is usually difficult for me now, because I'm a classic rock fan. So, for a song nowadays to truly stand out for me, it has to be original, and lyrically intelligent. (Which is why I also like American Idiot) Here's my interpretation of this song: Feel Good Inc. is the tower of babel/Soddom/Gomorrah, or in other words a place of hedonism and excess. "City's breaking down on a camel's back They just have to go 'cause they don't hold back So all you fill the streets, it's appealing to see You won't get out the county, 'cause you're bad and free You've got a new horizon, it's ephermal style A melancholy town where we never smile And all I wanna hear is the message beep My dreams, they've got to kiss, because I don't get sleep, no " What the guy's talking about here is Feel Good Inc. and how everyone there is bound to it, how it isn't bringing him happiness through material things, and how he suffers. "Windmill, windmill for the land Learn forever, hand in hand Take it all in on your stride It is sticking, falling down Love forever, love is free Let’s turn forever, you and me Windmill, windmill for the land Is everybody in? " The dream comes in, a place where he'll be happy to escape Feel Good Inc. Which is, of course, the windmill, where there is no hedonism, just peace. This is due because if you think of the floating island, it's small, has one person, and a windmill which probably reminds you of rural areas. "Laughing gas these hazmats, fast cats, Lining them up like ass cracks, Ladies, homies, at the track It's my chocolate attack Shit, I'm stepping in the heart of this here Care bear bumping in the heart of this here Watch me as I gravitat, Hahahahahahaa Yo, we gonna go ghost town, This motown, With yo sound You're in the place You gonna bite the dust Can't fight with us With yo sound You kill the INC. So dont stop, get it, get it Until you're cheddar header Yo, watch the way I navigate, Hahahahahhaa" Here the "navigator/captain/rapper" makes fun of him for wanting to leave, he is also making fun of his melancholic music style as well. Another symbolism here is the fact he's a rapper/captain/navigator, which might be a criticism of rappers "navigating" people in the wrong direction into hedonism. (maybe even "navigating" the music industry in the wrong direction) "Windmill, windmill for the land. Learn forever, hand in hand Take it all in on your stride It is sticking, falling down Love forever, love is free Let’s turn forever, you and me Windmill, windmill for the land Is everybody in? " He ignores the rapper and keeps dreaming of escape. "Don't stop, get it, get it We are your captains in it Steady, watch me navigate, Hahahahahhaa Don't stop, get it, get it We are your captains in it Steady, watch me navigate Hahahahahhaa. " The rapper mocks him again, telling him he can't do anything to stop him. Probably meaning, there's no stopping the rap culture that is hurting the music industry and society. Well that's just me, hope it helps. Oh, is it just me or does that windmill island remind anyone here of "Castle in the Sky" by Hayao Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli ] What I meant was them against gansta rap. btw, this is structured a lot like Clint Eastwood, except the rap is better in CE. Overall this album is better than the last with less experimentation and much better lyrics. (since the last one was filled with many vague, silly , and tripped out lyrics.) Plus, I'm thankful that they've have kicked out the retatrtded stereotype that Gorillaz make stoner music. |

| Gorillaz – O Green World Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
Actually, I believe the war interpretation, because it comes after kids with guns and fits with the end of days/rapture/armageddon theme, as well as, the Iraq war interpretation. The former is probably about the war preceding the rapture and the latter is talking about how the soldiers stationed in Iraq feel that the war is meaningless as they lose men at a consistent rate. |
|
| Gorillaz – Kids With Guns Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
wow, I never though of it as the Iraq war. Anyway, my interpretation of the album is that it has to do with the end of days/rapture/armageddon, and this is talking about the big war that preceeds the rapture, in which kids are taking up arms. Of course this interpretation might loosely tie in with the Iraq war one. |

| Gorillaz – Last Living Souls Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
Actually vanilla4000 is right about the songs connecting, as all of them have to do with the rapture/armageddon because the album is titled "Demon Days". This song is where the people are looking for those who went to heaven, contemplating whether they're the "last living souls", which they confirm in the end. It could also mean those who were left after the "Fire Coming Out Of The Monkey's Head" incident. |

I still can't belive there's support for Snoop still. I mean the only reason Snoop sux, is because he doesn't even to try, he knows already that the mainstream likes his simple, ganster glorifying crap, so he'll keep innovation to a low, while making mad cash. He and practically every rapper in the industry (save christian ones and some who want to innovate.) do the same. Because rappers in the industry know that all it takes is that you're "gansta" (and you have to have looks.), if you're not you're tossed in the "wanksta" or christian rap category. I'm serious, I know a person who likes the artist just for his looks alone not his music (My freakin' God...). This also goes to other genres of music, like alternative, rock, and pop. How do you think U2 is still doing well? I actually used to like rap/hip-hop, but it soon gets old fast, because every innovator, gets quickly copied, like TLC and Destiny's Child also Run-DMC, Kurtis Blow and Grandmaster Flash. But those who rip them off are those who look better and are more gansta than the next. Sadly, because of rap/hip-hop's growth, other genres caught on to that kind of success and then you see such god awful artists like N'SYNC, Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, and etc. What happened to artists like Hall and Oates, Foreigner, and The Police? Not to mention it's also sad to see that Rock is being split mainly into alternative and death metal, appealing to those gothic people or those who like "pretty" people. That's why I love hearing my parent's music from the 60's, 70's, 80's, and some 90's, with some great artists like: -Pink Floyd -AC/DC -Sublime -ZZ Top -Journey -Van Halen -Styx -Jimi Hendrix -Led Zeppelin -The Beetles -Queen -The Doors -Aerosmith -Motorhead -Guns n' Roses -The Who and many others...you will not be forgotten |

Pretty much the epitome of Sca. I love how this song sounds so nice and sweet, but when you hear the lyrics it's a whole other story, it's kinda like "Every Breath You Take" by the Police very odd. btw, PTW, even though I'm sure he's not listening. Go post somewhere else if you want to bash or wish someone dead (Much less Brad, who is a musical genius, he may not be the best, but he's still amazing nonetheless.). And for Christ's sake, can people please make constructive criticisms! I get tired of people going around saying "(Insert your least favorite artist here, in my case 50 Cent) 5UX0RZ MY AS$!!! I'm pretty sure some would agree with me there, but some people will be offended like the ones bashing Linkin Park, I may have not listened to them, but there's a group of people who like them for certain reasons. Here let me put an example: *I go to random 50 Cent lyrics* "I hate 50 Cent because his lyrics are mindless and he just can't follow a beat. I doubt that seven bullets to the chest automatically makes you qualified to be a great musician/rapper." I hope you all learned something today. My Eyes On You Guys... |

An awesome song with well thought out, as well as funny lyrics, great beat, and a good moral. This was the song that got me into Sublime, just because it made me laugh so hard. "That night in jail it was getting late He was butt-raped by a large inmate, and he screamed But the guards paid no attention to his cries" That there was comic gold. Not to mention the guy definitely deserves it. Sublime OWNZ! |

| Green Day – American Idiot Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| This song is amazingly true (yeah, I'm anti-bush), as GD uses great lyrical precision to get its voice heard politically with very deep thought. I just don't know why they're intent on doing so, by using vulgar language retardedly. *cough* 1st Mature GD CD *cough* I hope they weren't trying to use cursing in order to get more albums sold... | |
| Green Day – Boulevard of Broken Dreams Lyrics | 20 years ago |

While the music to the song is very simple, the song's lyrics are truly deep and stay true with the theme of american society, *cough* American Idiot* into talking about loneliness, unconformity, independence, and sadness of those in the american society. I'm pretty sure that's what it means. As I said before, it's just too simple for my tastes, it reminds me of "Another Brick On The Part II" which is good too. Both bands have more complex and better songs. GD- American Idiot PF- Confortably Numb |

| Led Zeppelin – Stairway to Heaven Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I'm not really sure why everyone likes this song so much, but I do know that Led Zeppelin has a lot of better songs in its repertoire. I just can't find this song that amazing due to its long and slow paced beginning, with that village tune, then finally at the last minute or so, kicking into some banging rock riffs. It's a nice song with some interesting lyrics, but definitely not LD's best. Kashmir, Communication Breakdown, and Black Dog are much better. | |
| Nirvana – Smells Like Teen Spirit Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
The song sounds great, but it's lyrics are terrible. WTF, a mosquito? I'm pretty sure Kurt improvised on the lyrics, because it doesn't make much sense. Other than being a good, but mindless rock song, I hate this song, because it started Alternative, which is filled to the top with crap. (There are some exceptions.) Long live Classic Rock!!! |
