| Nightwish – Amaranth Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Also, another thought. After watching the music video again a few times, I noticed that the sun is always in different places in the video. They find her at the beginning of the day and they burn her as the sun is going down. Possibly symbolic? Also, that isn't a hut. That is a Home. The boy takes the angel into his home and does what nobody else will. He touches her, and she reaches out to him so enthusiastically. The smoke from the fire blocks out the sun. In a song where the light seems to be so importantly symbolic, shouldn't it mean something that the smoke from burning the angel obscures the very light they apparently so desperately seek to find? Possibly that in our ignorance and fear we inadvertently hinder what our goal was in the first place? On top of that, the angel ascends out of the house and instead of burning and dying, is purified and renewed by the fire, and as she rises, she is the brightest light. The sun is going down anyway, the smoke obscures what little there is of it, and the angel is bright and pure. | |

pencils' explanation really hit home for me. To whoever said that it was just a misunderstanding, that the father knew to burn the hut to send the angel back, obviously Not. They weren't burning the hut as a favor. The boy sees the angel; he discovers her and does not fear. The older man, who I'm not convinced is old enough to be his father, but maybe, sees the angel and immediately runs to get help. Why? The boy certainly didnt' feel like he needed help or defense. The judgement of the people as they walk through the village is Obvious. They fear the angel. There is no look of curiosity or wonder on their faces as they first see her, as there was on the boy's face; they have only bad judgements about her. The townspeople ran for the hut and burned it down out of fear and hatred for something they did not understand. Nobody tried to understand the angel except for the boys, and they were quickly wrenched away from her as she blindly grappled to reach out to them. I don't think that could be construed as a favor to the angel in any way. "Alone without himself"; as for that line, going along with pencils's theory, remember that by biblical lore, angels were created with only one purpose; to worship God forever and ever, the end. They were created by Him as a part of Him. By being cast out, Lucifer is alone without the purpose he was meant to have in life.He is alone without part of himself. |

| Lacuna Coil – Our Truth Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This could be the influence of too much Twilight, but it reminds me of the vampires in the books so strongly. Like when Edward says "What if I'm not the good guy? What if... I'm the bad guy?". And then the way he honestly believes he doesn't have a soul any more because of what he has become, regardless of whether he chooses to indulge his bloodlust or not."Wicked partnership in this crime" reminds me of it also; they all believe it's a crime and it's wrong to Be what they are, and they are partners to that wrongness by existing. The only difference is that there is no way they can forget. But maybe that's the point; we all have parts of us that we maybe didn't choose, but are there. We do bad things sometimes. We can try to lie to ourselves, and those lies get caught up in a whirlwind, and soon, if you're good enough at it, you do create your own truth. For the vampires of Twilight, it was lying to create a truth for the rest of the world; they were raising their truth. | |
| Disturbed – Avarice Lyrics | 18 years ago |

The "cities drenched in flames" part could go back to a biblical reference of Sodom and Gomorrah. The people of these cities were greedy and full of lust, and they were "drenched" by fire from heaven. It doesn't really go with the other lines, but it always makes me think of that when I hear that line. Otherwise, I agree. The song is great poetry but I don't think I've ever voluntarily started my disturbed cd out with that song. |

| Disturbed – Pain Redefined Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I don't think you can give a song only one meaning. It's like saying that a word has only one definition, and that almost never happens. When I listened to this, I was thinking more along the military / US / political line, but it's not the only meaning. To me, it's another great song from a kickass group that inspires and impowers all of us, and I think it's a kick in the face to everybody trying to control our freedom that Disturbed is so loved. Another victory for Disturbed \m/. | |
| Tenacious D – Beelzeboss (The Final Showdown) Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I'm trying to find this out from everywhere, and i can't: what in the Hell does he mean when he says "I'll make you squeal like my scarlet pimpernel"? Is it a reference from the book and I just don't know b/c I haven't read it, or is it because of the plant, or what? KICKASS SONG though. My favorite of the entire movie. My rock sense would fucking explode if dave grohl would sing and play like that all the time \m/ |

| Linkin Park – No More Sorrow Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Does it matter that much whether it's thieves or fakes? I'm just glad that these lyrics aren't so fucked up as most of the other ones. I wonder if deaf illiterates were the ones submitting these things originally. Both thieves and fakes are bad, and the point of the song is what we're supposed to be driving for here. And honestly, this song isn't so brazenly bashing anybody directly like most other bands do. Can you really miss the point of American Idiot or some of Disturbed's various songs? This one is more general. I think LP is maybe walking within viewing distance of the wagon, not jumping on it full throttle. |

| This is probably the best song on the CD to me, not that there were a whole lot of great ones to pick from >_ | |
| Disturbed – The Game Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
How does this song not remind ANYBODY else but metalhead of a killer? This reminds me of a serial killer totally and completely, with the relationship factor tied it. It's so sick and twisted. I love it. This song reminds me of the story The Most Dangerous Game where the guy doesn't realize that what's really going on is human hunting. This song would make Hitler cream his fucking pants. "Tell me exactly what am I supposed to do Now that I have allowed you to beat me Do you think that we could play another game Maybe I could win this time" I think it's an abusive type of relationship. They play games with each other and she's gone too far with hers. "I kind of like the misery you put me through Darlin' you can trust me completely If you even try to look the other way I think that I could kill this time" She's gone too far. She thinks she's got him whipped into obedience but now he's snapped and gone crazy and he's hunting her. "It doesn't really seem I'm getting through to you Though I see you weeping so sweetly I think that you might have to take another taste A little bit of hell this time" This could be a scene where he has hurt her in some way and he sees her weeping. He enjoys it but he doesn't think she's suffered nearly enough, so he gives her more punishment. "Lie to me Is she not right? Is she insane? Will she now Run for her life in the battle that ends this day Is she not right? Is she insane? Will she now Run for her life now that she lied to me" This is where the relationship part comes in I believe. Before she's lied and gotten away with it b/c she had him so pussy-whipped he just took it. Now that he's snapped and he's coming after her he's asking what the fuck is the matter with her and wondering if she'll try to run away. "You always wanted people to remeber you To leave your little mark on society Don't you know your wish is coming true today Another victim dies tonight" To further the game, he takes away the people/things that she loves. Real tiwsted fucks know how to hurt people, and he's doing this to torture her for all that she has done to him. "Is she really telling lies again Doesn't she realize she's in danger" She's trying to escape him now that she's scared and she knows she'll die, and in doing so lies to him again. Word gets back around to him and he's incredulous. "The little bitch she went and she told A LIE And now she will never tell another A LIE The little bitch she went and she told A LIE NEVER FUCKING LIE TO ME!" He has finally ended it and now she's dead. Dead (wo)men tell no tales ;). |

| Incubus – Stellar Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Part of a really close relationship is about the sex. It's like the difference between fucking and making love though, which you usually don't see in a rock song. (Fucking = rap, Making Love = country). He just loves her so much that he wants to show her a new place, to show her how he feels when she is with him. There is nobody else there, it is only the two of them. It's an immense love thing. Part of love is sex, but it is the making love aspect of it. It isn't just the fucking and drrrrrrtyness of sex. He's saying that anybody can have sex, but with her, it's a bringing together of body and soul. Anybody who knows the difference knows it's so much more amazing when you have that kind of coming together. | |
| Crossfade – Washing the World Away Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| It is obviously the story of a man lost and wandering. I agree, it is sort of suicidal, like I could let it all go right now if only I did this, but somewhere I find the strength to pull through another shitty day. Maybe in time, I'll find my way. It's kind of a hopeless song. | |
| Crossfade – Already Gone Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| mmm. Crossfade's new CD is just amazing. I absolutely love it. They went from kickass rock to something with so much feeling. It really makes me wonder what the band went through to be able to perform these songs and write these lyrics. If you liked this song, check out all of the other ones on the Falling Away CD. They are all equally amazing. | |
| Crossfade – Breathing Slowly Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I agree with Kreveck because of the lines: "And I'm breathing slowly, Like you said to do when you had lost control" Why else would his friend have lost control? Maybe it was depression or mood fits or something else? Just a suggestion. But apparently he made a huge mistake and now his friend has left him forever. It seems as though he maybe didn't intend for it to happen and it's irreversible. (interesting that all of you called it as a "she" when indeed it could have been a he as well) I really love this song. It sounds so beautiful, and so mysterious. |

| Nightwish – End Of All Hope Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Mandylion is a name for the Image of Odessa. According to the story, there was once a king who sent for Jesus ( while he was still alive ) to heal him. Instead, Jesus sent the Image of Odessa, a cloth with his likeness ( including his face ) on it, with a disciple to the king, and the king was healed. This was before the Shroud of Turin, which was for his death. The Image of Odessa was created while he was still alive, and is supposed to have his exact likeness on it, which would mean that we know what Jesus looked like. The Image of Odessa is called the Mandylion by Orthodox Christians. | |
| Nightwish – Planet Hell Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| staticstar, that sounds a lot like, if not exactly, what it could be talking about. this song is awesome. | |
| Crossfade – Starless Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
I agree that it's about breakups. It looks to me like the person talking [i'm assuming it's a he just for the sake of my time] is going through a whole bunch of crap related to the breakup, but is numbing himself to all of it. However, he still knows that a big crash is coming. That might be what " I can transcend you and mentally bend you " is referring to; he's saying he can rise above it and distort it in his mind to make him think he's doing ok, but then he goes back and says " but I can't handle the shit that I'm into ". I think that when he realizes that it's the crashing point because from then on how he describes himself just goes downhill with every word. BTW: This is an awesome song :-). To me there are a few different kind of rock songs, and one type is magical. This is so in that group. The song is just so odd, but it's catchy because of it. I don't know which one I like better, Cold or Starless :-O. ( both totally rock my face and kick my ass though ;-) ) |
