This song confuses me. Before the video (which is why I sometimes hate video's) I was thinking the girl IS his girlfriend but he saw her spending time with another guy ("it was only a kiss...it was only a kiss") and he's imagining that she's going to leave to be with the new guy ("and my stomach is sick...but it's all in my head"). And he 'can't look' and 'jealousy was taking control' I though the last lines were "i never learn" over an over which lead me to believe he had been cheated on which is why this huge (but perhaps false) scenerio is playing out in his mind... Then I saw the video and got all confused.... |

I'm torn on this. Evidently, from reading here for a few days, I am completely off on CC songs...but I agree that it's about a relationship where one of the people is more attached than the other, i.e. "I tell you things to make you stay" However, the 3rd verse throws me off "we have turned into the worse kind of people...so unkind" and then the apology about the feelings for this person. (Cheating?? An Affair?? What????) Don't know. I'm stumped. But I love love love how he sings that line "Oh apologies, no apologies, this apology doesn't describe the way it feels to feel for you" It just kills me. |

I feel like this is about a relationship that should not be progressing - for a variety of reasons - and yet you can't stop it. No matter how hard you try, you just keep colliding. Wow, I'm surprised to hear people thinking this is about a relationship that is breaking up or not going well. I totally agree with Butterfly, where to me, it's about people who are with other people but who also are in love with each other...an affair. Just seems obvious to me in that way. Especially this: The Space Between What's wrong and right Is where you'll find me hiding, waiting for you The Space Between Your heart and mine Is the space we'll fill with time The Space Between... Wrong/Right..............Hiding/Waiting.....Our hearts/filled with 'time'.... And right above those lines about "take my hand 'cause we're walking out of here" is when they finally decide 'love is all we need' and they're going to ditch who they're with and finally get together. All in all, just an amazing song that moves me to tears. |
