Yes it does seem to contrast a lot with the rest of tFC. It's kind of weird going right from the tender-sounding title track to "**** all that we've got to get on with these
got to compete with the wily japanese." |

This does seem to be about the post-war political figures. I think the "final solution" is just what the political figures are doing to the soldiers they are sending off to war. Giving them death and despair. This is such a beautiful song... I'm always left speechless afterwards. |

Eh. Yeah, it does sound like a remix of it, not an early version. I thought it was an early version because it had less lyrics, apparently I'm wrong. |

I like this song a lot. As Cpt-Sensible said it is a light-hearted song about a serious issue. Sandinista! was a great album, I have to admit. |

Maybe this was about the Apartheid in South Africa. Phrases such as "shebeen" and "meat rack" sound like they aret alking about the Apartheid. I don't really know, the rest doesn't point to much. |

I like this song a lot. It is classic Clash IMO, as benjyedwards said. It grows on you the more you hear Sandinista, and not like a fungus. |

Well, this is a great song. It seems to be about the run-down parts of London, probably the apartments and condos. Makes sense, with all the stuff about debris and run-down buildings. |

Interesting, that makes sense. I can't tell what the rest of the song is supposed to mean. WTF is a very valid description. |

This song seems to be about a relationship that separates you from the world in a way. Great guitar work in this song. |

As people have said, this song seems to be about sex. Indeed, as JumpyJack said, it is one of those songs that makes you wonder why it isn't popular. Awesome song, I love the guitar solos in it. |

The Final Cut is such a depressing album. I normally don't like cursing in songs, but this an exception. This is an awesome song, so... powerful. Anyways, this does seem to be about the lower and middle class workers' lives. John would be just your average worker and the ones saying "not now John" are the upper class that don't care about what happens to John in the least. |

This is an awesome song. Anyways, it seems to about things like God, time, love, and death sometimes being so empty. I still have no idea what most of these lyrics are references to, but |

I love this song. It seems to be very anti-Christian. "Bullshit fakers, enchanted kingdoms, the fashion victims chew their charcoal teeth." It reminds me of a view of God as fake and heaven to be nothing but a dream. Someone seems to have had it. Something pissed them off, maybe Christians and they are expressing it via violence. They are in love with their sadness and don't want to be saved. The song seems to be a complaint towards Christians about God, or maybe another deity, not responding to the madness that the narrator goes through. Although you never can be sure about the meaning of a Smashing Pumpkins song. |

I think this song is about emotional decay. Someone being driven mad by a relationship that cannot work. The relationship doesn't even need to exist in the first place to do this. It makes the person numb to everything. |

Yeah, it does seem to be mocking love, when I think about it... I have 3 meanings for this song so far. 2nd one maybe not.
1. Prostitutes
2. Unrequited love, I suppose, in a way
3. Mocking love |

Actually, my first idea is kinda wrong. It seems to be a simple love song for someone who the narrator thinks is out of his/her world. |

Nevermind about my previous opinion. This song seems to be about isolation in general. Not just after breaking up. It isn't just after a relationship, it's also before a relationship. A relationship that never was. Angst inside is caused by immense devotion towards someone, so much you forget about yourself. You want to think it's love, but it tears you apart too much. Or maybe you just pretend that the devotion is real and it isn't. You feel hopeless and alone. |

I think this song refers to two people. One of them likes the other, but the other ignores them. They ignoring one feels much loneliness and sadness, but takes a nihilistic point of view and thinks that he can never be saved. The entire song is in the point of view of the lover. The obstacles would be the other person's nihilistic point of view and his wanting to keep that point of view. |

I agree with mattd23, except with one addition. The second explanation is not necessarily a soldier's view. It could be just an ordinary person being driven mad by the world. |

This song is about people who lose themselves when they are near those who they fear being traitors to them. This causes them to act mean (the line about crashing a girl's party) or discriminatory (the line about the man who talks in maths). Their worst enemy is themselves. They regret their choices and they are sorry about them, yet they don't say so since they don't want to be accused of not beign themselves. |

I can't pin down the meaning of this song. If I had to explain the lyrics, it would be about maybe wanting to be in love with a popular person. They have had boy/girlfriends before, you haven't. They have experience, you don't. You think they can save you. I love the bass in the song by the way. |

To me, this song means you like someone a lot, but they are popular, and thus you are would at best be just another one of their boyfriends, a zero. You need something more... but you either can't speak to her or you just think you have no chance with her. Yet your intense like, even love, for her tears you apart. It describes my life very well. |

For me, it's about liking someone else a lot, but they don't care about you or you just can't get yourself to speak and say you like her. You can't help but think of them... yet you know you don't have a chance with them. Sad, really. It always was a good description of my life. |
