Okay, Jonny Cash did a fucking shit cover (nobody could have done a good cover because it's TRENT's song, he did it in his way, there will not be another Trent) even Trent said when he heard Jonny's version, he wasn't that bothered. HOWEVER the VIDEO is amazingly beautiful by Cash, and that's what made Trent cry when he first saw the video cover. Through the cover, Jonny Cash has earned a place in all our hearts and certainly maintains his legacy. NOW, Jonny Cash aside, Trent Reznor wrote this song, nobody else did. No other music artist has EVER been able to write anything like 'Hurt' or the Downward Spiral album, or 'Right Where It Belongs'. The only two reasons you can ever even atttempt to dislike nine inch nails is: 1) You completely misunderstand the music or just don't pay attention to it, and rely on catchy tunes (therefore not being a real music fan) 2) You are jealous that Trent has the ability to write such genius lyrics Hurt is such a genius song, my words can't even describe the praise it deserves. It's the best song ever on the best album ever (IN MY OPINION you fucking haters). There are many ways you can view this song, but what makes it special is that it can apply to you in your own way. Now stop the fucking argueing, we love and respect Jonny Cash, however the work was Trent's therefore was more meaningful. |

people are trying to deny it but the album obviously does have a storyline to it, hence it being called the downward spiral, he is falling further throughout the album. The Numpty is right, personaly I find the downward spiral to be the greatest album of all time, not because of catchy tunes or anything, but by the deep meanings of the lyrics. As for the song the downward spiral, i think this is him sort of killing himself in his mind, letting go of everything, its all inside his mind which is why its all dreamy and weird. Hurt is him actualy killing himself when he realises all that has happened. |
