Blue pertains to depression, not a person. Billy used it as a person much like "vanity". Billy sings "missed you since they found you out" -may mean that it has been treated. And he goes "i've been waiting such a long time, for your smile" -billy trying to say he hasn't had one and the smile is just a poetic touch(smile antonym of sadness). There's plenty more of metaphors in the song which he artistically/clearly evince-so have fun guys ! sp forever <3 |

| Billy Corgan – Walking Shade Lyrics

I agree with you both(MCIF1979 and Nosdravde) I still can't find the lyrics for it but for a heads up, the posted lyrics has some lines mistaken.
the song is all about his old bandmates (particularly zwan and sp except jimmy). Billy demonstrating that they are all users, charades, and bottom feeders.
In the first line of the song- he sings " look at you now, look at you centerstage?" and he goes on singing " look at you nothing face, took advantage of my fate... I'm a walking shade"
This is a blatant statement to say that they(old bandmates) all used him, and took advantage of him to maybe make money and become famous and that they don't have the passion like his. nonetheless Billy is sort of a shade for them, a savior, a helping hand. And now that they all left him, billy has something to say to them.
Billy always have something to say in his first line of a first song in an album. In Machina he starts the album with the line "you know i'm not dead!" which has a say and meaning because after the commercial failure of the adore album(i still think it is as great as the other albums) everyone thought the pumpkins are dead or dying, losing the battle, not famous anymore. So the line " look at you now" fits perfectly for corgan doing his own thing, own thoughts, being free as a solo artists.
and of course as the other corgan songs are-the lyrics sort of possess lots of allegories and metaphors. so this is just my take on the song.
I love billy, can't wait to see him in concert in the fillmore in San Francisco and hear his new album. |
