| i loved suicide notes so much i hate to agree with dethandnoncents, but he's right about the curse. the whole thing is thinly disguised emo, none of the metal edge that made the first album good. but I would advise you guys who are hatin' on all of Atreyu's music to check out Deanne the Arsonist. because that song is really good, and its original. The Curse is all about bullshit moneymaking though. and I hate to say it, but anyone who has any musical sense and liked Suicide Notes should hate the Curse with the flaming passion of 10,000 burning suns. I hate to think that those 2 albums are by the same band. | |

| this song is good. but The Curse is sooooo horrible. Holy shit I want to cut myself every time I accidentally finish Suicide Notes and this song ends and the rest of that album starts. It sounds like a sellout if i've ever heard one, all the lyrics shift from beautiful depression to "my girlfriend left me and now i'm real sad." and the band's sound in general just loses its edge, its not bitter anymore, its mainstream. I love Suicide Notes so much, this album makes me cry inside. | |

this is one of my favorites too jhoo. so i'll make a comment. first, egghead, not all blood means type-o. lots of songs talk about blood. try finding a true metal or hardcore album that never uses the word blood. I love the vampire preys for your soul pun. and this song is about depression and its awesome. I love the deviations from politics in Ashes of the Wake |

yo, holymetalhead. The name Lamb of God is a joke. When the band was called Burn the Priest they couldn't get any venues because that was so satanic, so they as a joke they called themselves Lamb of God. Its IRONIC... its tongue in cheek. go listen to evanescence if you want jesusmusic. don't know if this is a remotely close to correct interpretation, but for me it symbolized the end of anything painful. And moving past it. And accepting what is and moving on. I listened to this fucker over 50 times in the week after my girlfriend dumped me... its about stuff like that. just get past it and move on, no matter how much it hurts. |

I think this song is actually about assassinating Bush, saying that someone should do it. that person is basically fucked, but it needs to be done. "they'll hallow your name for your sacrifice" Ironically, Bush Jr. atones Sr.'s sins by being killed i believe. The nails speak of nails being driven into a coffin, a reference to the slow condemnation Bush subjected himself to. If this song referred to Iraq, the murder in question wouldn't be justice. Thats the key, Lamb advocates this murder, and advocates the martyr. I'm pretty sure this is right because there are problems with the iraq theory, and there are lots of other songs on the album about Iraq, like Hourglass and Now You've Got Something. This song is specifically about Bush. Oh, and a "One Gun Salute" is an incredibly witty way of phrasing an assassination. "The New Independence Day" is what happens when we are free of bush. Dear holymetalhead69 - Jesus isn't part of metal. lamb of God is not a christian name. They used to be called burn the priest, lamb of god is an ironic backlash from burn the priest because they didn't want to be mistake as being satanic. first, CoF is probably the best black metal you're gonna find, and as far as I can find nymphetamine is basically a unique album as far as the symphonic metal goes. Gabrielle is another beautiful song. to Pride - CoF loves biblical references. Crown for the Holy ones refers to Christs crown of thorns. heeneeway if you listen to the long version you learn that Dani committed suicide due to his love/lust for the girl, and the fact that she caused him so much pain (hence the crucifixion). Another reference to the suicide is in the razor part, and six feet deep incision refers to being buried by love, basically. |

most people who dislike metal are just prejudiced against the vocal sound, and don't bother to listen to the bass and guitar and drums. also, songs like this are mildly ridiculous, and cradle sort of makes them to look badass. but they are fun to chant and freak out christians and such :). But if you listen to their lyrics in songs like Gabrielle they are sort of about the human condition and are much more intriguing than any lyrics you could find on the radio. and hungerformore, i agree with you on manson, but not on CoF betraying their image. you can hardly call nymphetamine pop, and i think its one of their most interesting albums. it explores areas of metal that nobody had even cosidered, such as female vocals (okay evanescence tried but they suck) and a more symphonic feel. And Gilded Cunt should more than prove that this isn't a sellout. And if you wanna hear some sweet new BM listen to Ad Hominem, they are actually good, but they are french and sing in a very heavy accent and don't quite get the grammar. |

well, gabrielle is a feminization of Gabriel, which (i think) shows her perfection and how much Dani cares about her. hence the name. But more importantly she is the reason that Dani isn't depressed, despite the fact that he has lost her. Or perhaps just the reason that he doesn't commit suicide. But somehow Gabrielle has kept Dani from being dragged under by "Dark Snake Despair," which I think is either suicide or just depression. Probably suicide, since he seems depressed anyway. Actually I'm sure its suicide, because he says that now instead of the Snake Gabrielle is the cause of his misery. One of my favorite songs, absolutely beautiful and tragic. on a random side note I learned the word weft from this song which came up on an AP test which was cool. |
