I think that this song is about memories taken of lovers from thier individual perspectives. Lisa takes with her the memories of how beautifully the relationship began. The sweet memories we associate with falling in love with someone. The small things that are remembered, significant only to the lover. (like his hair being wet when she first saw him) Damien, however is the contrast to the song he takes with him the dreadful memory of the death of the relationship. The anguish and the torment. He dwells on regret and anger, and how unbelievably sorrowful his emotions are ("This is love, this is porn") The reasons for the two lovers parting is irrelavent to the song. It was written to highlight the two very opposite emotions and MEMORIES that were prominent in the cycle of the relationship. One of the most emotionally driven songs I think i'll ever hear.. The poetry with every word in the second half of the song is saturated with loss. There's nothing like it... |

The album is legendary, but I have to say without a doubt, that "Breath" is the best and most fleeting song on the Phobia album.. Nothing compares to it. Personally it wins the award of the best emo hard rock track EVER.. well.. until the next Breaking Benjamin album.. ;) |

i know the song isn't new but it's atleast a couple of months old atleast, so where are the comments!?! Found on The Wild OST.. After this song, it was impossible to pay attention to the movie. it's SOOO beautiful... Similar to the story within the movie, the song is about winning the respect of someone you admire. i guess it struck a chord within me, coz i could relate to the heavy need to make the people i love proud of me and to be what they want, but sometimes it's impossible to be anything more than you are, so the only key is acceptance. "What do I have to do To try and make you see That this Is who I am And It's all that I can be" i guess in life, you can never please everyone, and its a terrible feeling for those ppl out there who can never make their parents and loved ones proud enough. The desperation that drives this need is something that many people can understand at some point.. "And I won't let you go And I won't let you down I won't give you up Don't you give up on me now" Great music, great lyrics, great emotion.. |

ok.... this sonh is his MOST poetic... another two cents from me.. :) "she's got the dirt and spit of the world... " this girl is someone who's experienced the badness and the worst of the world. "her mouth on the metal, the lips of a scared little girl" the girl contemplates the feel of the gun's muzzle in her mouth. "i've got an angel in the lobby, he's waiting to put me in line" it seems that her faith is sealed. The angel of death is close by. "i won't ask forgiveness, my faith has gone dry" (duh) no faith no, so she has nobody to ask forgiveness from. "she's got her christian prescriptures and death has crawled in her ear" means that the person WAS religious. but not even the power of her religion can save her. Death crawling in her ear is symbolic of what she was heard. and no believes. "like elevator music of songs that she shouldn't hear" this is a very cool and saracstic line.. Mr Manson refers to elevator music. the kind that users of an elevator are not meant to hear but is designed to subliminally relax. "and it spins around, 1, 2, 3" a beautiful line.. WOW.. decribes the girl turning the gun around to face her the significance of counting to six refers to the six shot revolver which she is using to kill herself. "and we all lay down, 4, 5, 6" she's killing herself in a public place. everybody sees the gun when she draws it and they duck for cover.. "some do it fast, some do it better in smaller amounts" he talking about death. we live day to day. and the eventuality is that we all will die. at some point. now, or later. the song ends with the sound of a gun hammer striking an empty chamber 5 times.. the sixth strike, the final attempt is poetically ommited.. the fireworks in the back are reminiscent of 4th of july celebrations. the entire album has an "american" theme... it's a mind blowing ending to a mind blowing album... |

ok... this is what i think for my five cents worth... this song makes a lot of sense when you have to let go of someone that loved you.. "welcome to the planet, welcome to existance" is like saying welcome back to reality after the pain you've experienced. "everyone's watching you now" kinda means that the world hasn't stopped moving, so everybody's waiting for you. "i dare you to move" saying i dare you to move on with your life. pick up the pieces. to be stonger. "The fallout", the "resistence", the "tension" all refers to the unease of the situation.. the redemption and forgiveness lines deal with the sufferer being freed from the pain.. (She still means so much to me. and she always will...) |

The song is about a guy who met this girl whom he made out with. but in it's innocence leads him to falling in love with her. he knows that she has somebody else but his love blinds him. so in love that it makes him sick to think of her with another guy. ("now they're going to bed and my stomache is sick, but it's all in my head...") The cage he talks about in the beginning is the reclusiveness. which kept him restrained from hurt that he's suffered coz he'd been hurt before. which further proves the innocence in his love. but.... there is another side to this.... She's also in love with him. the song sings of HIS jealousy but it also sings of HER choking on HER alibi's. She sees him willingly but has to make love to them man she's with currently to maintain the lie. hence the morality issue (turning saints into the sea) The guy is broken coz his love is ONLY for her and there's nothing HE can do about it. all he can do is be positive and sarcasticlly calls himself Mr Brightside... Well, that concludes our lecture.... :) just thought it needed to be said. |

Ok, guys... i thought that i was like the slowest person on this planet!! dicovered the song watching The Wedding Crashers TOO!! funny how an amazing song draws people together. :) npchong pretty much DEFINED the song and it's emotive attributes, the lingering responses of the acoustic guitar to Chris's voice seem almost divine in combination.. LOL.. all i seem to do when i listen to this song is sigh and smile.. ;) the rush of surrender in the lyrics is too deep to bring out any overpowering emotion... WOW. |

My girlfriend and i split up a couple of days ago, and chose to remain friends. This song has taken on a whole new meaning for me. Makes a thousand times more sense now. I guess it's about a guy who has to end a relationship but sees the need to motivate her. hence the "Light up, light up". it's a promise he makes for her happiness, if not with him, then someone else.. ah, parting is such sweet sorrw. forgive me i'm a bit depressed.
